Topic: 12 fps help

well yesterday i wanted to try out 12 fps since i read that it was great for people like me and it is really great to the animation isnt bad its perfect for me but any of you mind giving some walk cycles  or things i should know because 15 aint working for me as much and im not going back to 20 : ( any thoughts on it?

You better animate at 15 frames per second, the differance between 12 and 15 is that 15 looks better, animating at 20 frames fps really sucks *ss, I try'd that ones.
Here is a tutorial of the most easy walk cycle
It's like 4 frames per step, you have some that have 6 frames per step, but you better start with this one.

Yeah, your better off sticking to 15fps. If your having trouble, keep practicing (unless its something wrong with your camera/editing software)

It depends really. Sometimes I vary my framerate and try 13 fps or 13.5 there actually is a difference. Sometimes if my animation seems too slow I bump the framerate to 17-20 fps. People say it doesn't make a difference but trust me, this helps in animation when you don't want to redo a shot fully. Also, you can try 24 or 29.97 fps on twos, this means the animation will be at 12 or 15 fps really and you can vary the animations timing. KG (Spastik Chuwawa) Now does 24 fps on twos as it helps with his comedic and animation timing.

guys 1 i cant do 24 and iv tried 15 its more time consuming and what not but 12 fps was said to be great for hobbiest i made a test of all sorts of things and it looked fine

time consuming shouldn't be in your vocabulary if you're doing stop motion.

You really should just use 15 fps it looks great and most walk, run, and other movements are used best in 15. If you prefer 12 fps you may find your animation just is never looking that great. Believe me as I did start with 12 fps mini/twitch

True, but most people who start with 12fps and are not used to using it may have trouble making their films look smooth brick72 on the other hand has practiced and know exactly how to use it so technically anyone who really knows how to use 12 fps can make their films look great but if you are starting out it will probably look bad but when you think you are ready to switch to 15 your animation tends to look fast because you were originaly using 12fps.

im using 15 and on youtube iv uploaded a test www.youtube.com/user/silents429 anyway ill practice and practice but it looks kinda fast mini/blankexpression

12FPS is an excellent framerate. A lot of professionals use 12FPS on doubles (24FPS with each frame shown twice) to animate. For example, these animations by the legendary Jay Silver were made at 24fps mostly on doubles.

If 12FPS doesn't look right, it's the animator's fault. Animating at 15FPS simply requires different increments and timing to make things look right than 12FPS. Something that takes 5 frames to animate (like a step forward) on 15FPS needs 4 frames to be just as fast on 12FPS.

It will look awful whatever framerate you use when you start out, the framerate doesn't really matter in that case.
