Re: how to get ideas?
- go to the toilet
- stick your head INTO the toilet
- press the magic button
- and see what happens
Tried it, didn't work too well.
But I was reunited with my goldfish.

How to get Ideas.....You ask?
Take a lego brick...now think of what you can do with it....then take some random object and think about that object then think on how you could use the random object that you just picked up and write a script then ANIMATE!!!:D
those are my theories on finding good Ideas

Go to bed. I had a really cool idea for A-G last night in bed!
Now I can actually enter! I'm hoping to win for best FX more than anything else, but if Smeagol or NickDurron are entering, I don't stand a chance...
The project name is a secret, as it gives to much away, but I've scrapped unstoppable...
Dog

I also do something enjoyable like playing the piano..or going to bed..
also what is the A-G contest, Dog?

I'm hoping to win for best FX more than anything else, but if Smeagol or NickDurron or T.G-Tom are entering...
T-G, I hadn't seen your FX work when I'd posted it. But now, I would DEFINATELY add you to the list.
Just don't enter, you wouldn't stand a chance...:shifty:
I'm jealous.
PistolShootin, the A-G contest is a yearly contest held right here. The initials this year are A-G because this years theme is Avante-Garde, which is French for advance-guard, meaning 'think outside the box'. Here is the youtube video.

Well, Truth is gonna enter, and how it now looks, it's gonna be pretty good. My best work.

Do you realize how much stick you're gonna get from control freaks on this site for thread bumping. You can say your prayers.
You have to have a Idea-receiving mind. There is no way to think up Ideas, they just come.
I walk around a table for about fifteen times. But sometimes that doesn't work, hence my earlier films.
This thread is 3 month old, stop posting.
That's like saying that we should stop posting in the "Name that Frame" thread because it's one and a half years old.
Back on topic, I get a lot of ideas from music.
I meant that the last post was 3 month old...
You can post if you have good input.
I have heard people whine over this for a long time.
ah...forget what I said.
Well, I do this...
1. Animation Tests. They give you an idea of what to film next, somehow.
2. NOT posting here. The forums will make you lazy!
3. And... that's all I got.
I'm not sure if this has been said because I am too lazy to go through the previous posts, but I have a few tips and tricks on how to get ideas. Well, this is how /I/ get ideas anyway.
I generally get ideas from the world around me, like any other dude I suppose, but I don't just sit there and try to think, I go and explore outside. While I explore I like to come up with several "What if" questions. For example, one morning I got up really early, like at 3AM, and I walked around for awhile and noticed that the mornings always seemed a little refreshed. Of course it is really you who are refreshed, but nevertheless, it created the road to my last film "Early Mornings". I just thought it would be cool if there was a being that went around and renewed the mornings and that's why they always seemed...different. ![]()
I also like to get ideas from everyday objects. Like one day I got this fantastically weird, slightly silly, and insane idea from looking at this really tall tree. I thought "What if someone were to climb to the top of that? And what if this tree was high enough to connect to another tree in another universe? And the man would find himself on the ground again in a slightly different world". Note that not all ideas you get will be good ones, but maybe even those small bad ones could be combined to create something fantastic.
I have gotten my fair share of bad ideas, like "Bluestar of the Day" was going to suggest looking into the sun so it could take you to another world that had a blue sun. And of course that world was perfect, but if you went back to the real world you would go blind.
Anyway, the point is not to be afraid to think outside of the box. In other words, use your imagination, anything is possible, nothing is impossible. Once you get an idea just start building on it and make it the best that it could be. Your very own imagination is the key to film ideas, so you can take the viewer on a little trip through space and time. And remember, regardless if people disagree, but in my opinion filmmaking CAN be its best when made into a highly entertaining movie that keeps the viewer hooked. In other words, but artsy, but don't like being artsy ruin your film.
That's all I have to say for now. ![]()
