use red playdoh its easier doesnt cause a mess and re-usable so no dont use ketchup
^ But playdoh dries very quickly, use plasticine or plastilina (depending where you live it's called different things) instead, because you can leave out, exposed to the air and it will never dry out. Plasticine is an oil based clay that is non hardening, which is why it is used by animators.
I use ketchup on my food all the time, really good yum, yum...
But in brickfilms you may just end up with good tasting minifigures
