Topic: VFX Tutorials

Hey guys! MOL here. Lately I made a new YT account (MisterProdigy) and there I'll be posting VFX and Editing tutorials to do with Adobe AE, Photoshop, and Sony Vegas. Here's my first tutorial: Color Correcting in After Effects

All of these videos will be in refreshing HD, and if you guys have any requests for tutorials feel free to leave a reply or critique me. Anyways, I'm hoping to release 1-2 tutorials a week, but I need ideas, so, if you guys want to just give me some ideas I could do for tutorials, please tell me.

Thanks for reading,

Re: VFX Tutorials

You don't seem to be very well-informed if you don't know that Curves and general Tint, or Hue/Sat, effects aren't available for, pretty much, every version. mini/wink  Also, I don't think color correction isn't something that you do when you're not very experienced with AE, you start by doing other things, so you wouldn't need to explain that much what you're doing.

I don't usually think giving exact values (50) is very appropriate, because, if you are explaining exactly what you are doing, you would need to explain what Hue/Sat does and just drag the slider, exemplifying how the effect is added the more the slider progresses.

Generally, I felt that there was a slight stumbling problem and lack of pacing, although it seemed a bit rushed, which I'm sure you will get better at, as you do more of these. But it is good that it is quick and, somewhat, to the point.

All in all, not bad of a tutorial. There was a bit of a pacing issue, and I felt you were, either really nervous to be recording, or you aren't very proficient/comfortable with the software. I'd like to see what else you can do.

Good luck for the rest mini/wink

(P.S.: Since when have you been using AE and can you name some of the things you did with it?)

Re: VFX Tutorials

Yes, it was my first tutorial, so I was a bit nervous, plus the fact Im only 14, I didn't think many people would take me seriously. I am almost sure that curves and hue/sat are available to every version, except maybe not the very early versions.

I do think I could improve on explaining the effect switches better, as in what they did, and i didn't mean to give an exact value (in fact, on my list of things to do i put "do NOT give an exact number for an effect value).

Anyways, thanks for the feedback, I guess I should calm down and plan my tutorials better but now I've got a general idea on where to go because of you, thanks!

P.s: I started editing in Vegas when I was 11 (3 yrs. ago), and I moved into AE when I was 12. I've done mostly effects for my own short films, but I do frequent a film making forum and do effects for others.

I do feel I could do better, and this didn't demonstrate how comfortable I really am with these programs..

Re: VFX Tutorials

I'll be watching your vids for sure. Can you give us some tips on Vegas, since we are newcomers of it.

Color correction is the first thing I did with After Effects. And I do have curves and hue/sat in my version.

Everyone has different beginning grounds for everything. I believe those base effects are available on every versions.
