Topic: Font Animator Program

We were wondering if anyone knows a program (preferably free) that does a good job animating fonts (like in some animations like the tim and fRED series)?  We learned that LiveType is a good program, but that is for Apple computers, and we have a Windows computer.  Does anyone know of a Windows equivalent of this?  Any help is appreciated! mini/smile

Re: Font Animator Program

Not any free ones.

Re: Font Animator Program

Well then, are there some fairly cheap programs that animate fonts? mini/confused

Re: Font Animator Program

Yeah i've been wondering about Font Animators also...
I guess I will ponder with you.

Lets hope that our "pondering together" will not be the only help we will get... mini/wink

Re: Font Animator Program

You can use that to make those Font things?
If I had known that I would of bought it when I was at Staples yesterday.....

Re: Font Animator Program

What video editor are you using? Basic kinetic typography like that in tim & fRED would be easy enough to do with GIMP and any editor with keyframes.

Re: Font Animator Program

Oh no i'm not smart enough to do that......

Re: Font Animator Program

Scroller?

Re: Font Animator Program

Are there any good tutorials for GIMP animating?

Re: Font Animator Program

Animate with your editor, not GIMP (unless you edit with WMM, in which case you're screwed). And skwizitanee, it really is pretty easy, just a little time-consuming to get the exact look you want.

Re: Font Animator Program

We currently use the following programs:

Pinnacle Studios 11 Plus
Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Carrara 5
Wax 2.0 (occasionally)

Can any of these programs do text animating well?

Re: Font Animator Program

You ought to be able to do something with Carrara, but it's far from ideal. I know nothing about Wax. If Pinnacle 11 is anything like the earlier version I once used, that's useless. You could create each individual frame in Photoshop, but it'll take forever and look like crap when it's done. Unfortunately, your best option would probably be to get someone else who has the appropriate software to do it for you.

lil'jj, what is this "Scroller" of which you speak? I googled it and got nothing.

Re: Font Animator Program

I don't know, I heard about it somewhere on Brickfilms.com. I think I got the name wrong

Re: Font Animator Program

In Carrara, is there any way to create text? I know that in Blender you can make text and have it part of your scene. If you can do it in Carrara, then it's a simple matter of animating it and tweaking the colors.

Re: Font Animator Program

Well, I can do it easily in Adobe After Effects, but that's pretty much useless information.

Re: Font Animator Program

Why not in Premier?

Re: Font Animator Program

@ LegoDudez: He doesn't own Premiere. We're still trying to figure out a free option.

@ BG: Even if there's not, there has to be a way to put a custom texture on an object. Just make that texture an image with the desired words.
