Topic: Standing Firm - On DVD August 24th, 2010

Hello everyone,

Man it's been a while since I've posted anything on a Brickfilm website mini/smile Some of you folks who were around in the good ol' days will probably remember me. (hopefully)  I've been working hard building a career in various departments and working on various things.  I think it was like a decade ago I started looking into brickfilms and such since it was the easiest way for me to get my thoughts out into a film type arena.  No actors available or awesome cameras to speak of.  But all that changed a few years ago when I bit the bullet to try and make a feature.

The result is STANDING FIRM, which will be in national Christian bookstores in US/Canada on August 24th, 2010, and in about a dozen other countries (so far) around the same time.  This is a huge accomplishment for me, something I've dreamed of doing all my life.  I hope it can be an encouragement to those hoping to make a real career in this field.  Although the movie is in the faith-based arena which many might not care for, the creation of the film should be of some interest.  It was shoestring everything!  LOL.  I squeezed every last bit of quality I could out of what we had, and the results have been pretty incredible.

Thanks guys! mini/smile Canon XHA1 with Letus adapter and various accessories was the camera.  It was about $8000 for the whole setup (including the tripod without which the camera would be useless).

Congrats on finally completing this!  Live action is a whole different animal of course, and to create a feature film and get distribution deals on top of that is a solid accomplishment.

Off-topic, wow it's been a while since I posted here (again).  I check out Brickfilms.com to find all previous threads/posts GONE. mini/sad Disappointing to be sure...so much history destroyed.

On-topic, my film has done very well since it came out on DVD August 24th, 2010.  It's available in over 12 different countries on DVD, has had good success on Netflix, Cable VOD this past December, Online streaming is coming soon, and (amazingly enough!) it's heading to Redbox the end of April!  It's been a wonderful journey...and the film is still finding ways to surprise me.  We also have almost 300,000 fans on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/standingfirm so become a fan if you haven't already!

Since the film released I've been married, moved to GA, grown a pretty great career, and my son was born Dec 23rd, 2011.  Time flies huh?

Thanks to all for the support back on the old forum during the good 'ol days. mini/smile Who would've thought all that would eventually lead to this?  For those hopeful filmmakers out there, let me encourage you...IT'S POSSIBLE.
