Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)
I could see the cheap set in the cave towards the end. Confidential was good though.

Oh, and the start time changed AGAIN meaning I was this time sat watching 'Junior Apprentice' for 15 minutes. I hate it when shows don't have a definite start time meaning you actually have to READ.

Meh, wasn’t bad. I still don’t know what the green things were called (or did I just miss something) and must they always use THAT music during EVERY trailer for the next episode. It’s so annoying I want to kill whoever keeps using it. It was dramatic and exiting the first time, but after the third time it was already annoying! STOP IT PLEASE!!
Also, am I the only one who still cares about Doctor Who? I find it ironic that I’m the only person still ranting about it….

I found Rory's death a bit sudden, it was like, he never excited.
I just don't like the way they killed him off 100%.
Yeah, they didn't leave much time for us to be upset. I was just like "Oh that's really sad. Whoops, they cant remember him now. Ah well, episode over"

So you missed the Doctor giving several names for the race several times? I don't remember all the names but Silureans and Homo Reptilia still stick with me from both this week's episode and last week's.

Not quite, I also still watch the series. I feel that while the Doctor and his Companion are both excellent characters, the storywriting for them is really bad. It seems that every episode it's just "we need drama omg more drama no people need to DIE here guys also did you put in some drama already?"
That what was nice about the Angels, it did not kill you, it just wasted your life.
And adding on to that it was like: "kapow, "HE'S DEAD GUYS" Amy was like I HATE YOU, then POP RORY DEAD FOREVER AND EVER. what rory???
on with the seris in crackys."
And the Tardis blown up with the shrapnel?
Thoughts?
I wish they made the individual episodes less "omg such drama" and instead put some more effort into characters having fun with each other while focusing on the cracks storyline a bit more. Seeing the Tardis shrapnel quite flamed my interest for the crack-o-time storyline, and yes, Rory's death was quite "hurr kill it off with a gun hurr look everyone is sad face : ( "

That still doesn't tell us what its called. Its like calling the Daleks anything other than Daleks: 'pepper pot', 'arch nemesis', 'little green blobs in polycarbonate shells', 'big machines that yell EXTERMINATE and make tea' - just call them Daleks, that's what their called isn't it? Just pick a name and stick to it BBC!

Not any more! Now Moffat has thrown out everything that made the angels threatening apart from their 'creepy' face, which after seeing it about one thousand times just looks like the angles are constipated. But I digress.

I strongly agree. Something has gone wrong in the script department. Before I assumed it was just me not used to the new style and I would soon begin to like it, but we are at Episode 9 now. I've seen worse writing *COUGH*Hollywood*COUGH*, but its not what Doctor Who deserves.

I've missed the last 3 episodes hence my absence from this thread, going to catch up now.
Meeeeeeeeh.
Rory died.. Well... that was sudden..
And it's Silurians, BertL. ![]()

In all honesty we don't know what the Doctor is called either. The race just seems to go by several names; there's nothing wrong with that.
They seem to be a Re-Imagined version of the Silurians.
This episode had far too many plot twists. I can't remember them all but...
the Doctor's going to save the day - oh no he isn't they're going to kill him - no they're not going to kill him, they're going to negotiate - no they're not going to negotiate because Aleia died - actually no, we're going to gas them all and blow up the drill (not that the lady who built it seems the least bit bothered) - (meanwhile grandad and that lady who made the drill are going to stay behind for no reason and the scientist lizardman dies which is a shame because I liked him) - but the gassing doesn't work because one didn't die, but they're going to escape! - oh no they're not, because Rory died... oh look a crack! - never mind about Rory, no one remembers him anyway (except the Doctor...?) - but none of that matters because THE TARDIS IS DESTROYED
Basically, too much going on.
Also the actress who played the lady who built the drill (I think her character was called Naveen Choudry) was a terrible actor. I'm glad she's staying beneath the ground for the next thousand years.
Also, it was never explained why the bodies from the graves disappeared in the first episode. i can has explanation plz?
In semi-related news, I bought a hard copy of the Chameleon Circuit album.

THAT explains why the Doctor seems to have met them before (but he's like that with every alien)
In all honesty we don't know what the Doctor is called either.
True, but he's never called anything else other than 'The Doctor' (apart from 'the oncoming storm', but the Daleks have never used this name instead - its more of a title than a name) And the Doctor never actually calls them The Silurians, unless I missed that bit - in which case please call me an idiot.
But this is only a mini nitpick. Looking back, the episode was OK - but did it really need to be a two parter? There are far better stories in this series that could have been expanded on, but were instead rushed. The Dalek episode was just an excuse to get the new Dalek toys out early...

Yes, the Doctor did call them Silurians. ![]()

Do you actually like Chameleon Circuit or are you just trying to show you're Doctor Who loyalty? Chameleon circuit really isn't that good as a band. Now Driftless Pony Club, they're awesome.
I like Exterminate Regenerate, but the rest of their songs just reel off facts from the Doctor Who universe. I mean, heave you heard "Type 40"?
Yes, the Doctor did call them Silurians.
I'm an idiot.
...meanwhile granddad and that lady who made the drill are going to stay behind for no reason
Granddad stayed behind because he was dying and staying was the only way he could be cured, and the woman from the Kumars stayed because her 'life's work' (the drill) was destroyed and staying seemed like a better option (despite the fact she probably has a family somewhere)
Yeah, they're pretty stupid reasons (Family < One thousand years in the future?) - but they are reasons!
