Topic: Masking Trouble

I have a little problem with color differences during masking. Take a look. (If you have epilepsy, don't look!)

The quality changes from image to image. mini/sad How can I fix this while animating? I don't want to have to fiddle with the image more during the masking process.

Re: Masking Trouble

edit the levels of the background frame using GIMP or Photoshop, or the image editor of your choice until it matches the rest of the footage.

Setup pictures?

Re: Masking Trouble

My bad, didn't notice that.

Assuming your settings are fixed I think the only other way would be to start from scratch. In which case as simple level edit would require less fiddling.

Re: Masking Trouble

Are you covering your lamps with paper?

Re: Masking Trouble

That shouldn't make a difference unless he (re)moves the paper in each shot.

Re: Masking Trouble

Yes, I have paper on each of my lamps. I'll post the setup soon.

Re: Masking Trouble

I actually have the same problem in my animation challenge entry. What I find helpful is to take the minifig and masking stuff out every frame so that you can have background pictures, but then keep the minifig and masking tool in camera somewhere that you won't mask. I find that this makes the camera still light the scene the same way, so the results are way better.

Re: Masking Trouble

I also had the same problem mini/sad  but fortunately it was a picture that had similar light conditions. it was not perfect, but okay mini/smile

... Oh yeah.

Re: Masking Trouble

Your set/camera is not fixed or you use automatic white balance/fader or automatic focus in your camera. Change it to manual.

Re: Masking Trouble

The rig is creating shadows,  therefore changing the lighting of the shot. Can't be helped really with a rig like this.

Re: Masking Trouble

I have everything on manual, including exposure and gain. Plus, I have anti-flicker off.

Re: Masking Trouble

Try to put somthing under the figure intead off the top. But this will remove the shadow of the figure while masking mini/sad

Re: Masking Trouble

I managed to get the shade. it's just not having a light right over.

Re: Masking Trouble

i would use mannul focas to do this. if your not using mannul focas then you might have to edit the picture.

Re: Masking Trouble

mini/confused Dude, that is totally irrelevant, manual focus doesnt help the lighting. And he has a 9000 and is using manual focus. Read the thread first. (Hope I didn't sound harsh, sorry if I did mini/sad )
