Topic: Helium Frog - Open Source
Just a note to let you guys know that Helium Frog animation software is now open source. You can get the source code by following the link from the main site. The code is released under the GNU General public licence. In short this means you are free to do anything with the code, but anything that stems from it must also be open source.
If you are a budding programmer and would like to get involved with taking the project further take a look at the code and get started.
Future plans involve the following
1) Converting the code from VB6 to VB.net. Can you help walk the code through the VB.net translator and get me a VB.net version?
2) Developing modules (probably in Visual C#) to add Canon live view support. We already have one professional programmer that is keen to do this.
3) Converting the whole program to C#. There are sample modules on the development site which cover all the main program functions.
4) Improve the general reliability of the software
It looks likely that I will be unable to spend much time in the future developing the project further so the hope by making it open source is that it will encourage others to contribute.
