I'm confused.

It's simple. If you're aiming for HD it's actually worth trying! But honestly, as most of those guys are unable to achieve that good HD quality it just seems overrated. Yes it's basically youtube HD, but it's not the real HD we see on TV. What's the point of having an HD video if it's not actually anything special (it's quality is still medium).

Wait, what?

If your flaming pixel's are not HD, your not going to get HD. So what's the point? You could crop the end result to 16:9 and it would fill the YouTube player, but why bother up-scaling it? Your not magicly going to get more pixels by upscaling a 640x480 image. If a films not in HD do you go: That sucks, NO HD! No. Don't bother.

You will always have the same amount of pixels!

Just do this
film in 800 by 600 and then edit your video using the program of your choice.  Save the video as an avi and then follow Smeagol's simple tutorial.

I wish I could be more helpful but i don't know your specific problem. mini/wink

Re: HD to youtube

It shouldn't come out blockie or pixellated if antialiasing is involved.

This footage was rendered at 720x405 but exported at 1280x720.  Can anyone tell it was scaled up?

The tooth fairy and easter bunny shots here were both rendered at 720x480 then scaled up (reason being it took less time to render at a lower resolution for certain shots involving refraction).

I'd say if you can get away with it, then go for it.  I don't see why you're worried about jagged edges and pixellation when most multimedia softwares have antialiasing methods to smooth out the jagged edges.  You must be looking at a prerendered playback or something if you're still seeing jaggedness.  The exported footage shouldn't come out jagged, but smooth after antialiasing.

Re: HD to youtube

But that's CGI, it makes a better picture than most of our cameras can. We can't do it as easy as that. But why you'd want to scale it up to get... What? It wont make a difference.

Regardless of CGI or camera captured, antialiasing will remove the pixellation.

Nowadays, no, it wouldn't, since Youtube replaced that toggler between small scale 4:3 left center and large scale center 16:9 wide video size to now large scale with a resolution toggler (720 HD, 480, 360).  But before, HD video would automatically play at large scale, all others would play at small scale.  My preference for near full-screen playback prompted such scaling tricks.

Now all I'm saying is that there's no need to worry about pixellation or jagged edges if you scale up because antialiasing takes care of the problem.  I do it for rendering time efficiency and to have that 720 HD option included.  Of course it doesn't make a difference but me, I'd like to have it.

Will not, won't.  You forgot the apostrophe.  When you are quoting someone and you are altering the quote, you indicate what you changed with [ ].  What the hell are they teaching you in school these days?

HD simply does not work sometimes, I have tried and it got really messy.

I am Brick by Brick.  I was banned so I created a second account and pretended to be new.  So now this account is banned as well.
