well i have a Sony HDR-SR1 and it has an HDMI out and is it just like a fire wire? I really need a camcorder with a fire wire, and i have never tried using an HDMI out, so if you can help this would be a big help
Firewire is like USB, just a different type. HDMI has to do with video quality.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't HDMI a video out, like VGA is?

No it is a cable type that can be used to connect the computer.

^ I just read the first paragraph, and it was saying it's a digital alternative to VGA (and a bunch of others).
