Topic: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

I would like to what you guy think is the best $500 plus editing software and why. I am planning on getting the new version of Sony Vegas Pro but I want to know if there is something you think is better.

Re: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

I believe Adobe premier is $799 or if you have an older one upgrade is only 299

Re: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

Adobe Premier comes with After Effects and a lot of others too including PhotoShop and Flash.

I'm back. Possibly.

Re: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

For your money the Premiere package is probably your best bet, but then again Vegas is better mini/shifty
I don't think is would cost $500 though so you would save money. In Australia it is between $200-$300 depending on where you buy it.

Better as in easy to learn?  User-friendly controls?  Don't go spending $500+ on a software if you have no idea how to use it.   It would be a waste of money.

Re: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

I think Vegas would be your best option if you don't have time to spend learning another piece of software head to toe.
It took me around 2-3 months to fully master Premier/After Effects/Photoshop, while Vegas I was able to find everything I needed easily.

And After Effects doesn't come with Premier. I'm pretty sure it does come with Encore/dvd authoring, and maybe OnLocation/Video record-download.

I already no how to use Sony Vegas because I have platinum version of it.

Re: Best $500 Plus Editing Software

To clear up the confusion... Premiere can be purchased separately, as can After Effects. The Production Premium package comes with Photoshop, Premiere, AE, Encore, and a whole bunch of other software you probably won't use.

I'm a big fan of Final Cut Pro, personally, but since you already know Vegas I'd stick with that. Once you get into the high-end software, they're all pretty similar in terms of what they can do.
