Topic: HD to youtube

Anyone know how to upload HD (1280x720)? I know Smeagol made a tutorial on it, but it was a little confusing. And dont tell me to just resize it, cuz then it makes the video kinda pixely, and my videos are 640x480. (or maybe 480x640, idk. I think its the first one)

Re: HD to youtube

You can't take 640x480 video and then make it HD. mini/wink

Re: HD to youtube

What's the point in uploading in HD if your video isn't HD?

My point exactly.

Re: HD to youtube

basically what im saying is how to make a video 640x480 a 1280x720 video without resizing it to where its all pixely

Re: HD to youtube

That's impossible. It's basically making an image bigger, which is bound to make it pixelly.

But it wouldn't benefit, it'd look worse.

Re: HD to youtube

It's just as easy to film it at 1280 by 720 as it is to film 640 by 480, so why not?

Re: HD to youtube

HD is overrated as most of those guys in youtube doesn't know how to make those HD videos actually beneficial. If you're 640x480 video quality is super good it's not going to look bad in 1280x720 anyways, so it's actually worth trying! For my animations I always take photos in 640x480 resolution with my digital camera, then I put the finished animation video on Adobe Premiere Pro and I edit it, and then finally I export it in HD (1280x720) 'n upload it to youtube and it looks good! mini/smile

Re: HD to youtube

You need to film the brickfilm in HD or higher to get HD. If you do anything else it makes the video look bad and is completely pointless.

Re: HD to youtube

You have to make the original video in HD to begin with. Whatever size you upload it as, YouTube will make it fit. I animate at 960 by 720, and my videos get higher resolutions because of it, without me even trying!

let me change this to 'getting the highest quality possible

Re: HD to youtube

The YouTube video player is at 480p resolution, so really, it's 720/1080p HD being scaled down to size. What you could conceivably do is keep your video at 640x480, then add a vertical letterboxes to the sides so that the video itself fits to a 16:9 format, then upscale the video to 1280x720 for the HD. You'll be scaling up pixels, sure, but like I said, the YouTube player is at 480p, so it's not really that much of a loss, if any.

The only way to really upload true HD is to capture in true HD in the first place.

From the YouTube Article:

Originals Please!
The less a video is re-encoded prior to uploading, the better the resulting YouTube video quality. We encourage you to upload your videos as close to the original source format as possible, with a minimum of intermediate re-encoding steps. Each re-encoding can generally degrade the quality of your video and create some specific problems too, which we'll address below.

Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio of the original source video should always be maintained when it's uploaded: Uploaded videos should never include letterboxing or pillarboxing bars.
