Oh it looks familiar, but the only film that I can think of at the moment is Balibo, although you've already said it's an American film.
Is it set in indonesia/malaysia?

The guy in the picture is African-American.
It's not a terribly obscure film, as it's fairly recent and also got a Criterion release.
Too much art house film for the plebs.
Maybe post another frame from the movie for us cineasts

Yes there should be a rule, if no one has guessed it in a couple fo days, there should be a hint everyday after that getting more and more obvious with the clues, otherwise this thread will just die on its ass.
