I would go for AnimatorHD. For £50, it's cheaper.
Someone with knowledge of cameras and lens', is this lens any good?

Well it has got 13 5 star reviews and one 4 star review, so I would say yes.
And this was the criticism:
My only critisicm is that after using it for a while I find myself wishing that I had spent more money and bought the EF 100mm Macro 2.8 as the workable range would have been much higher, allowing me to get closer whilst being further away.

This lens has an EF-S mount so has been designed specifically with the Canon range of digital cameras in mind such as 300D, 350D and the new 400D which I currently have this lens hooked up to. The lens is not suitable for Canon's 1D and 5D but I'm guessing if you afford one of those you'll likely own the 180mm macro 'L' lens
