Topic: Movies and other media that deserve more recognition

An interesting topic sprung into my head yesterday and left me wondering... What things in the media should have gotten more praise, or what were entertainment-associated things that I loved, but nobody else seemed to notice?

For me, here's a small list of the recent ones:

-Firefly (TV show, directed by Joss Whedon)
-Son of Rambow (2007 movie, quite good)
-Mirror's Edge (New and initiative first-person platformer)
-Faded Paper Figures (Indie band, mellow and nice)
-Jamie Bell (Irish actor, Billy Elliot, Jumper)

The Heaven System

I just watched an online musical he directed, and I was very impressed, although there was some stuff that I didn't think was necessary.

Ooh, nice topic. Firefly, Jamie Bell..good stuff. And while I thought it could have been better in a few areas, Son of Rambow was pretty cool.

I'll have to get back with some more later.

That doesn't begin to describe it.

I can't tell if that's a good thing.

Amazing Grace (2007 film) (This film was so amazing, please rent it. Or buy it. mini/wink )
The Illusionist (2007 film)
Across The Universe (2007 film)

Re: Movies and other media that deserve more recognition

Babe: Pig in the City - The first Babe movie was cute and well-made, but this sequel is surprisingly dark and not much of a kids movie despite being about a cute talking pig.  It's great though, the visuals and direction (by George Miller of Mad Max) are pretty impressive.  The budget was huge and this shows.  Sadly they didn't get a good return on the investment, it was marketed as a kids movie and was kind of horrifying for small children, so it lost money.  It wasn't as well reviewed on the whole as the first movie, and indeed it probably wasn't a good sequel to the first movie in that it didn't really have the same sensibilities or charm to it, but I think it is a good movie in its own right.

Clue - a hilarious movie in which Tim Curry shines.

The Herd - a cool Aussie hiphop band.

Tom Sawyer Abroad - a short book by Mark Twain featuring Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Jim, it parodies Jules Verne-type stories. This is one Twain tale you never seem to hear about.

Smoking marijuana, eating Cheez Doodles, and masterfully debating do not constitute 'plans' in my book - Walter 'Heisenberg' White

Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure(Wii Game)- Awsome game got so many high reviews yet none played it. Great game if you like puzzle solving.
Fanboys(New Movie Febuary 6)- The Ultimate Star Wars fanboy movie parodying everything about Star Wars. Synopsis from Fandango: To honor the wishes of their dying friend, some diehard Star Wars fans set out on a cross-country road trip to George Lucas' famous Skywalker Ranch. There, they intend to treat their pal to a screening of the movie series' latest installment before its official release.                           http://www.fandango.com/fanboysmovietra … 88/v352671

Right with you on Kit Fisto he is awsome but then George Lucas intervened and he had to go out like a punk with a weird girlish shriek.

Kit Fisto is my favorite jedi, after the first Clone Wars series airing. (I think it was in 2004?) He was full of win in the Camino episode.
