Topic: Need ideas/feedback for an action movie

Hey guys,

I'm new to this site, and stop motion in general. I've made one other movie about 2 years ago for a class, and been wanting to make another one ever since. Anyway, I finally have some time, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I'd really like to try out an action movie, since I love action movies, and hopefully the fast paced scenes will keep me motivated. I have a few ideas, and I'd really appreciate any advice or criticism (constructive of course) you might have.

Idea 1: The main character would be an agent of the CIA or similar agency. He's really good at what he does, but on one of his missions something happens that makes him realize the agency has been using him. He then goes to try and make up for all the things he's done by taking down the agency. As for what sets off his change of heart I have a few ideas: he is ordered to kill innocent people/his partner/a loved one, OR they leave him for dead in hostile territory, OR they try to kill him, etc.

Idea 2: This one would be set in a gritty, corrupt city, similar to the setting of "The Spirit" or "Watchmen." Anyway, the main character's family is brutally murdered, and this sets him off to clean up the city. Kind of a vigilante "Death Wish" feel. Not sure who the main character would be, I like the idea of an average guy, but seems kind of unrealistic to think a normal guy could have the skills to take on criminals/the mob etc.

Please keep in mind these are just my first rough ideas, so I'm open to changes. I'll post more when I work out some of the details. For now, I'd be grateful for any thoughts you guys have.

this plot has been used soo many times its not even funny.
how about this.

an agent who isnt very good at his job. he is ok. but he isnt like james bond type. so one day on the mission he has to kill someone, who prob doesnt deserve to die, (like maybe a teenager who is just making a bad decision and holding hostages) so after the death he is so traumatized by it, so he quits. however the company cant have him quit. so one day. they just break into his house, he manages to excape but with brutal injuries.
then using more strategy instead of brute strength he tries to get them to leave him alone.

(i just realized that this is like the exact same plot as the bourne identity haha)

see how that happens.
simply come up with something original, and it doesnt matter what story is. as long as the audience doesnt know what will happen. that keeps your movie exciting. its not the action, its the tension. remember that

Those Plots seem a little redundant, I mean every action has some bad-ass CIA/FBI/NEST officer. Try reading a short story, a fable, etc. and adapt you ideas on that. David and Goliath would be an excellent exapmle of the weaker class over coming a greater obstacle though determination, that's what wins film contests mini/bigsmile
