Topic: YouTube

The thread for everything YouTube. Here is my problem.

So I was going to fill out the YouTube partner form, but I got this:

Thank you for your interest. Based on an automated review of your account it is unlikely that you will qualify for the YouTube Partner Program. Applications are reviewed for a variety of criteria, including but not limited to the size of your audience, country of residence, quality of content, and consistency with our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use.

You may still apply but please note there could be a significant delay in responding to your application. If your application is not approved, you will not be able to apply to the program again for 2 months. Thanks for your understanding.

Please note that YouTube Partner Program is for users who want to generate revenue from their existing audience. If you would like to increase your audience, we suggest that you consider using YouTube Sponsored Videos program.

Should I go ahead anyway? Are there any ways I can make my channel more suitable for partnership? Is it the fact that I don't have hundreds of thousands of views? Are there any ways to increase views? So many questions, so little time. Well, actually there's a lot of time, but I've always wanted to say that.

Re: YouTube

Don't do it,  wait until you have a better chance of getting in.

Thank you for your interest in the YouTube Partner Programme. The information you provided in the online sign-up form has been reviewed and approved for the first stage of the application process."

Now I'm getting my dad to make an AdSense account and my channel will be finished mini/bigsmile

mini/bigsmile Well done! I think you get paid for the ads you put on your films. Or the views, I forget. But that's cool.

EDIT: By the way Spud, if I were you I'd wait until you have at least 300-400 subs. I don't think 100 is enough.

Re: YouTube

Nice job on becoming a partner. I wish I had more subscribers so I could have a chance at becoming one. How much do you get paid from the ads?

Daragh doesn't have 300 yet.

I think that quality of content is an important factor.

I think it's a certain amount (probably in cents) per click. So if you have 10,000 views on a vid with ads in it, then 10,000 multiplied by the amount. Quite a nice sum.
By the way, if you want to put an ad on a video, make sure the video has no copyrighted material/music in case youtube remove it, because they will see it if you request an ad on it.

Me and my friend Dave are currently in production of our first Season of our new Sitcom "The Life and Times of Steve and Dave" and we're hoping to get enough views/subs eventually to become a partner if people think it's funny and like it

Subscribe so we can start getting popular mini/wink
Anyway, we've uploaded a few videos, just trailers really. Some have copy-righted music in them (the preview) so we'll remove it when the series is up.

And Hazzat, I meant about 300 to 400. Daragh has 289 which is practically 300.

Re: YouTube

I don't think that subscribers count because you don't have adverts on your channel. Views (obviously) do and the quality of content is probably so that people don't complain that the person sucks and how they deserve to be a partner more etc. etc.

It's completely based on views, a computer checks if you have the required views to be eligible.

Re: YouTube

To tell you the truth, the orginal intent for this thread is kind of pointless. Either you continue, and get rejected, or you reject yourself. Whatever you think is the best option will do.

I have tried LOADS of times to be a partner. Its stupid, my videos are badder than Jake Lloyds acting (oh come on! I had to make a Jake Lloyd joke!) but - why not?

Re: YouTube

I have a lot more views on some of my videos than Daragh, and he uses copyrighted music. I think if you were comparing me to him I would qualify for a partnership as well, although I don't have as many subscribers yet. Did you get the message saying you most likely wouldn't qualify when you sent in the form, Daragh?

Re: YouTube

Also every single bit of your videos have to be original content. No music samples, not borrowed sound effects etc.

Copyright free stuff, like Findsounds, is OK.

Then why are so many people YouTube partners when they use copyrighted content? Daragh has a made a few music videos and he got accepted. I will make a point of using original content in the future, though.

EDIT: Don't take this the wrong way, Daragh, you are awesome and definitely deserve to be a partner.

Re: YouTube

You can be a partner with copyrighted stuff; you just can't make money from it.

Re: YouTube

Oooh, so you decide which videos you make money off of?

You have to be f**king kidding me.

Darkness cannot be destroyed. It can only be channelled.

Re: YouTube

It's mainly copyrighted music (that is if you have no permission of course). If you try to get ads on some of the videos with copyrighted music then it'll most likely get removed (the video, not the channel, I think). So I'd put ads on as much videos that don't have copyrighted music.

It'd be great to be a partner and gets loads of views with the money you can get. I kind of regret closing my old youtube account. By now I'd probably have enough, since I closed it last year at 100 subs.
