Topic: Bagpipes?

Does anyone know how to make bagpipes? I tried to brickbuild a set, but it was just too big! Any suggestions?

Re: Bagpipes?

Michael Jasper made a neat little brick-built version:

From what I can tell, he used these pieces:

I'm not sure how well the levers would stay that way (might need to use washable school glue on them,) but it might be worth a try.

I never plan on buying anything when I go to the Lego Store.
Strangely enough, I always wind up finding something that makes me ditch those plans.

Re: Bagpipes?

The levers appear to be just jammed in.

Re: Bagpipes?

In order to get that to stay longer than a couple seconds (of animating time) with out them moving around would be to *shudders* glue them in... and I don't think the washable glue would work well enough for something that small. You might try modeling glue or something.

Re: Bagpipes?

The minifig above is brilliant.
Here is my attempt at bagpipes, no glue used, just normal Lego bits. But it is a bit too big. I'd go with the Boyle brothers approach and use Fimo modeling clay

Re: Bagpipes?

What about a flat cutout on white card etc. You could draw on the tartan and pipe detail. Just face it flat on to the camera.

I remember in the UK there was a "Paddington Bear" animation series.Produced by Michael Bond for FilmFair in 1975. The set was drawn and it made the puppets really stand out.

Here is a still I found on google. The pigeons in this one would also move a little. It also combined 2D characters which would be frame animated.
