Hello, i recently bought a canon HV40. I have been able to transfer clips from the camera to my computer.
However when i open up monkey jam, go into cameras and select "Canon Legria HV40" the screen goes blank and doesnt allow me to capture any images. Has anyone had experience capturing with the HV20,30 or 40?
Maybe it doesn't work with remote capture. You might have to take the frames first, then import to Monkey Jam

Yeah thats how im connecting it to the computer with firewire, but in the monkeyjam capture window its shown as a blank grey screen
Have you tried capturing your frames to your hard drive and then importing them?
I'm not sure how to do that, it has a memory card slot so i could manually take the photos, but that defeats the purpose of using it like a webcam.
if you dont use it like a webcam it doesn't ruin the final product
A) i have to press the take photo button each time which could bump the camera, and B) i cant play back my footage to see my progress
thats why everyone here uses a webcam or cameras with remote capture
Huuuugee bump, but this is helpful info for anyone with a HDV camcorder. It seems HDV cameras have artifacts that appear and there is a codec called ffdshow. Here is a tutorial on setting a HDV camera. (Note: though it does say for Stopmotion Pro, this works for monkeyjam and any other frame capture software.
