This reminds me of something... I should get some good storage for my parts...
Right now I have a red thing where minifig parts are, and a couple of medium sized boxes for the bricks. However, I don't have many of those boxes, so there are two different colored bricks in each box.
I just recently sorted most of my legos by color, but before that, I just knew where everything was.
I really was thinking about organizing my bricks, I have been having a lot of trouble finding some bricks...
The idea around here is that most LEGO is sorted by bags with minifigs in, bags with separate colours in, and bags with miscellaneous LEGO in. Of course, in reality with three lazy people taking turns making films, that all gets shot merrily to hell. I can't find a damn thing. When trying to find the pieces I used in Climb So High again the other day, I spent hours going through bags and cursing the day I was born. Then again, I technically made that film years ago now ...
For the most part mine are sorted by type, though some of these are then broken into colors so that I can find things easier.
I'm just getting back into the hobby after years off. All my stuff was in a giant box in my parent's basement. I bought a couple sorting containers from Home Depot, and am working to get everything (except for plates, which are in a bag) sorted by size and shape. I can't believe how few bricks I have once they're all nicely sorted.
I don't! ![]()
I sorted mine by color now... Thank God...
All my Technic/Mindstorm parts are sorted into 8 large tackle boxes. Every part has its own bin except for things like large parts that live in the bottom of the boxes.
My "Normal" Lego lives in various ways. Purchased kits live either as the model or if in kit form in plastic bags (with instructions). Misc parts live sorted into major catagorys like bricks (by color) minfigs (well over 100), minifig accesories (hats, implements, ...), plates, and then a few containers of whacko parts.
Not ideal, but it does work.
My LEGO is in two categories:
-Minifigs
-Other
Pretty simple, eh?
I just mush everything all together and hope I can find what I need when I need it.
Wow haha filmyguy your nuts, Im super organized. I have like everything organized!
Part of the joy of Lego for me is crawling around on my hands and knees, pawing through the piles of Lego searching for that one elusive piece, then the deep sense of satisfaction when it's found.

So true... So true...
Truer words were never spoken.
I disagree, I think its fun at first, but it gets old really quick and is super messy. Sorry to ruin your guy's fun ![]()
How did you ruin our fun? Just because you don't enjoy something doesn't mean we can't.
