Topic: Helium Frog Problems

I recently downloaded Helium Frog after watching bodville's THACumentary and I love it (as well as the camera stand from the THACumentary)! But I am having several problems with its performance. For one thing, a square box appears in the middle that really annoys me. Is this programmed into the software, or is it a glitch? Also, the program will randomly choose when and when not to allow me to use it. Are either of these problems because I'm running on a Windows 7 operating system and the program isn't up to date?

Re: Helium Frog Problems

try clicking on the properties compatibility mode windows xp (service pack 2);)

Re: Helium Frog Problems

What do you mean by that? Do I change the settings or do I need to reinstall it under the Windows XP mode?

Re: Helium Frog Problems

You need to find the .exe file in Windows Explorer (most likely under C:\Program Files somewhere), right click it, then click Properties. Then you can choose 'Windows XP Compatibility Mode' from somewhere in the Properties window.

I found a Helium_Frog_2_06.exe-up file but there is nowhere to change the mode. Is there some other way?

Re: Helium Frog Problems

I don't run windows 7 so am unaware of any issues with the software. Running the software in windows XP mode sounds a good idea though as I know it works well with XP. Use the right mouse button on the .exe file select properties, go to the compatability tab and set it to windows XP.

The small box in the middle of the screen could be the safe area rectangle function, this could be turned off in the settings window. Click the box off next to the text "Safe area on" this may cure that problem.

Intermittent problems accessing a program sound like a windows problem, but if you email me with more specific details, perhaps I can help a little more. Contact me through the Helium Frog website.

Here you go.

Re: Helium Frog Problems

Thanks for all of the help guys! I tried right clicking on the actual program file rather than the .exe file and that did the trick.

Re: Helium Frog Problems

No, I've reInstalled the computer so it's empty and that then I could use it for animating. The software is just slow.

Zepherin Hills, I don't think you can.

Re: Helium Frog Problems

Check out the utilites functions in the documentation. You can pull jpegs from a directory into the avi file and then work on them. They will be imported in alpha numeric order.

You seem to be working back to front though. It is normal once you have manipulated your frames to compile the final animation in an editing package (eg windows movie maker)

I got used to doing this with MonkeyJam. I would animate the frames before the part that needed editing and then edit once I got to that area of animation. I'm not sure how to pull the jpegs in your way yet, but I'll keep plugging away at it. Thanks for the help once again! mini/smile
