Topic: THAC 7 Final Results

For those who missed out on the Live THAC Results Chat, results are viewable here!  For those who were there, you all know that I left unexpectedly mini/wink during my announcing of the top 10.  This was due to an unfortunate disagreement with my internet in which many blows were exchanged, cable services will called in, and wires were just everywhere.  Many thanks to Sméagol for covering for me and apologies to all disappointed chatters. 

These results are complicated so pay attention.  I've added together my initial scores for Round 1 of every entrant with the people who received scores from the four judges (MindGame, Sméagol, Noodle, and BertL) so that they are all comparable.  The order has been messed with a bit, but the top 15 remain the same.  These are aggregate scores just for comparability.  Check them out here.

Again thanks to all the participants, the judges, and Aled for helping me with ballot stuff.  This was a super successful THAC, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next (which may be coming sooner than you think)!

mini/smile, I'm pretty pleased where i came. I do ask though, me, JAM and Brickcellent both had the same overall score but they got into the top 30, and I didn't. Did this just go down to overall preference? Not that I'm complaining, was just wondering what it came down to.

Anyway, thanks for organizing a great THAC mini/smile! Shame about you missing out on revealing the top 5 in the chat though mini/sad.

The whole process was very well handled. I might not agree with all the decisions but I did get to view some awesome entries. I really appreciate seeing the scoring it helps me to understand how my films are received by others.
Is it possible to see the numbers for the public voting?

Its a good thing Chesire was not the only judge (live to sk8 - 5 for visuals and 3 for sound........youch)
Judging is just so subjective. I'll admit I enjoyed Rsteenoven entry more than plenty of others.

I'm very happy with coming 7th considering the film was rushed to completion without most of the animation being recorded.
Next time (THAC-8?) I won't bother trying to build cool sets and attempting quality animation. I need more practice writing decent scripts.

Haha, I feel like I rated everything way too high. All of the top 15 entries had very good quality though, so it's hard to differentiate much.

THAC hasn't really been consistent in its timing, sometimes it's been in the summer and sometimes in the winter; sometimes it has happened twice a year.  We're discussing moving it to summer, when more people can participate in theory, to make way for a new contest in the late December/early January slot.

I don't know.  BRAWL was never an official contest, it was organized by Munzapoppa.  After waiting two months to send out ballots, he decided to postpone releasing the results further because he didn't like people being impatient with him, which hopefully will make people think twice about entering in the future.  We probably won't really take BRAWL in to account in scheduling official contests, I don't know if there are plans to have another or not.

THAC is perfect in the winter, it's early dark and has that nice christmas feeling.
BRAWL is perfect for the summer, it's impossible to do during the schooldays right?
THAC twice a year would suck, it sorta looses the fun...

We're not planning for THAC twice a year; the new contest might have some similarities to THAC (the main consideration being a 24-hour time period) but would be based around some kind of experimental concept as opposed to the very open-ended nature of THAC.

gets dark early and its a nice treat after Christmas.

I don't have seasons here, when is summer?

By summer I mean like June or July.  The thing with the December/January time is that while some people prefer it, it's during a holiday for many which means they may be on vacation.  This is less of a problem if we hold THAC early in the summer.  Really though, we're not decided on anything yet, still tossing around ideas.
