I really don't think that's a very good frame MOL.

I would say this, but Olson, you KNOW epic. (Bunnies ftw.)
But still, that frame is pretty epic.

Thanks dude, but still. It's pretty bland. Just blackness with a guy centered and kinda annoyingly crooked. Yeah, the theme and take of the theme is good, but otherwise its mediocre.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I, BrickLord, hereby judge this challenge.

1.filmyguy
This is the one of the only entries that I felt captured the theme I had set. Most people made battle scenes that was just a bunch of soldiers shootin' the place up, which seems more like the 'chaos of battle' and not the 'thrill of battle'. Nice job.

2.Olson

BUNNIES FTW. The lighting was nice, and I appreciated the attention to detail on remembering to spray the set with water along with the rain effect. It was also the one mass battle scene I really liked.

3.Greenscreener Studios
Very nice lighting and effects. But I don't think you, like most of the entrants, got the idea of the theme. Where's the thrill? If I had the theme to the 'confusion of battle' or 'the chaos of battle', I would have liked more of these types of entries.

4.Fancypants
You really had something going there. If you had just redone it with different lighting and set, this would have been the winner. The camera angle and the one-on-one fight was epic.

5.Builder bros
Funny. I loved the interpretation of the theme, even if it didn't really have a 'thrill'.

6.Gospelnut
The swashbuckling pirate swinging into battle! I'm not sure why, I just liked this entry.

...aaand that's the only ones I'm going to judge. The rest I don't have much to say about and they all are about the same in terms of what place they would have gotten. I was rather disappointed with a lot of the entries this round, I don't think many of you got the theme. If I have time I will edit this post with an entry of my own to show you more or less what I had in mind about this theme.

I've decided that I'm going to become immune to several select, non-lethal poisons, then put them in my snacks to discourage sneaky snack snatchers. -Littlebrick

What the barnacles!? Okey doky, not sure if I deserve it.
I'll put up a theme soon.

I may enter if it's a good theme. mini/smile

Great job judging Bricklord!  On to the next theme... mini/bigsmile

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I'm not concerned that I didn't place. But only one way to interpret a theme? That's not really the spirit in which this was started. mini/confused

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I meant as in if you're going to do an actual battle (the bang bang, sword slashing ones), try to match it to the theme. I was quite open to different interpretations. Thing is, I didn't see as many different interpretations as I  saw people not understanding what I meant by ' the thrill of battle'. All they heard was the word 'battle' and BANG, there's 10 entries of a bunch of soldiers shooting each other, which I don't see the 'thrill' in. I wanted creativity, but I didn't really get it.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

First of foremost, thanks for the comments.

I do think that you shouldn't just outright sequester entries because they have soldiers shooting each other. It's disheartening.

Anyway, to explain my entry (which you really aren't supposed to do, by the way!), the focus was not the bang bang and the soldiers killing men, it was on the man in the top hat, there for the "thrill of the battle", to observe and get excitement over it.

If you didn't place mine for technical aspects, fine, as I thought it was my least well done one (Focus, lighting, and set up suffered a lot here), but I'm saddened if it was was not placed for the sole aspect that you just thought it was the bang bang and the soldiers shooting each other.

Thank you very much.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I think that's sad that you didn't get placed. A lot of you didn't get placed.

Anyway the theme is:
Disturbed

Hope you have fun. mini/wink

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Eh. I'm dissapointed in the results, as the creativity and cinematography aspect seem to have been forgotten. There were some entries that placed that demonstrated poor cinematography, while some very creative and cinematography-tastic entries did not get mentioned at all.
That's a darn shame.
