I don't; I just know where everything is.

I sort mine by size and shape. I have the basic bricks in one bin, the plates in another, and all of the specialty pieces (vents, control sticks, steering wheels, chairs, et cetera) in bins that I got from Hobby Lobby. Those are really helpful for organising. I also have another bin for all the pieces that make up the minifigures and another for the objects that they can hold (swords, spears, cups, screwdrivers, and whatnot).

same here
I don't sort mine AT ALL.
I've got my minifig pieces in one box, accessories in another and then I have most of the remaining bricks sorted out into size and shape, and then there's some s built up which I keep on a shelf separately.
Same here.
Shouldn't this go in the Bricks section. Anyway, I keep my minifigs together, special pieces (wepeons, cup, levers, animals, tools, etc.), and then all my basic building bricks.
I like keeping my minifigs put together, so if I use:
A) Ike's hair
B) A Knight's head
C) Morris's torso
D) A Policemans's legs
I'll bring all 4 up and leave them by the set.

I have minifig parts in a box. Accesories, vehicles(bikes atvs) In a bag. Then the rest is either in my closet or on a shelf
I've been meaning to sort my bricks for a while, but I've been too lazy to do it. Right now I just have a mess of random pieces around my animating room, and a few bins with other stuff in them.
no i dont because my bricks are all in tubs
Sort?
What is this thing you call "sort"?
Sort?
What is this thing you call "sort"?
Exactly.
When my collection was 'managable', I used to sort it by color. Then, during the very first THAC, I quickly found out how bad this idea was when looking for one certain small piece.
Currently, I'm trying the size/type route. But, with the more common bricks (2x4, 2x2, etc.) being sorted by size/color.
It's completely overwhelming. I feel like outsourcing this this headache job. ![]()
Has anyone purchased one of those brick sorter tray things or found a better/faster way to sort?
I'd go with Maron. Mine is sorted a bit like that.
Minifigs in those sorts of boxes. Minifig accessories in another box.
All outdoor type pieces ie wooden fences, trees, rocks etc in a big box. Then I have tubs for colours of bricks and within those tubs the little useful/modified bits are in zip lock bags within the boxes.
