Topic: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

Okay, so,

There's alot of Community Projects scattered around the place.
One has succeeded. One.

So, I have come up with an idea to clean up this mess.
I am thinking of putting a promotional video up on YouTube.

My idea is to make a small clip about 5-10 seconds long, and to get other animators finish the film.
I know you're think "Waste of time, BertL's doing it."
But I am going to bring the project to the people!
Instead of setting up a thread and people volunteering to do it,
I will make a promotional video explaining the details of the project.
In this video, I will post my short scene at the end.
Anybody can make a video completing the next scene.

I will give a specific point of the film and ask people to begin animating.
Example: In my short scene, a man will crash and fall of a motor bike. This scene will be titled the "Beginning".
When a person completes the next scene, I will tell them to post it as a video response.
Eventually I will post a comment saying "STOP ANIMATING". When I post that, the specific scene (Beginning) will end.

I will then get other animators, commenter's, subscribers and any one else to vote which scene was the best.
They will post their vote on my promotional video. Again, I will eventually say "VOTING HAS ENDED"
After this I will add in the winning scene. This will repeat until the film has finished. After the film is done, I will post it on my channel and
offer each animator that animated a part in the film a small prize.

So what do you think?
I'm not a n00b, and I feel a strong sense of responsibility from this.

Please give your verdict.
Kind Regards,
-Kevin

Pretty good, but it's more of a contest, not a comunity project.

EDIT: Ohhhhh, I get it. That's actually pretty cool.

Thank-you so much.
I've put alot of thinking into this project.

I can tell mini/yes

I think it is a GO! Good idea. I really think you should do this.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

I really like. One of the few community project ideas that I actually like. If this actually continues, and I get my picture and animation quality up to snuff, then I would try it.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

Thanks guys! I'm going over it once more to see if there can be any improvements.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand it lol?

I'm with Rsteenoven, I don't get what your saying? Sounds like a bunch of random clips smashed together.

What about Cleaning Time? mini/tongue

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

What don't you all get?

And SillyPenta, I mean instead of carrying on ones that are doomed, that we should revert to this one.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

The only plan you have at this moment is "I'll start animating 5-10 seconds and then someone else continues it". That's hardly a plan. What is the story you are going to tell? How are you going to edit it all together? What about the audio and voices? How are you going to keep the quality, sets and technical things consistent throughout the project? These are just a few out of things to consider before you can start.

I have considered them all actually.
I'm keeping the sets plain and simple along with the minifigure/s.
There will be no voices.
That's the point of the film, to let the audience choose what will happen in the story.
The video will be sent via email in .avi format with no copy-righted material.
And obliviously people won't vote for someone with a terrible set and quality.
Each scene will be set some where else to avoid problems with sets + props.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

So basically, everyone animates 5 to 10 seconds of random stuff, and the end result will be all those clips edited after each other?

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

Sounds like a random film to me mini/tongue

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

Yeah, I'm with BertL here. Unless you colaberate what each animator will animate, this will fail

Eh, I don't think you get this.
Okay:

  • There is no story.

  • I animate a scene, then other brickfilmers animate a scene that fits the story.

  • If people vote for a stupid scene, I will automatically put in the scene I think will work.

  • The scene doesn't have to be 5-10 seconds long.

  • That was an estimation.

  • The end result will not be "random" it will have a story.

  • It will have a story I do not pick.

  • If it was random I wouldn't waste my time on it.

Hope this clears things up for both of you. mini/smile

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

I think its a great idea to be honest! yes it could fail but so do most community projects and yes it may end up being completely random scenes one after another but i think it might be fun.

Re: New (Slightly more original) Community Project UP AND RUNNING!.

I'd give it a go to see if it will actually work or not. If the first round doesn't go very well, than I'd just leave the rest to youtube mini/wink
