Maybe explain the theme more.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Well, vanity could be interpreted as self-obsession, arrogance, pride... I'll accept frames that are based in the loosest way possible around the theme.

A definition doesn't really help...

Being a gangster ain't all it cracked up to be. Sure, you get all the cocaine and money, but there is never a safe day in the gangster life.

I don't really like this theme (well, couldn't really think of anything), but I tried anyway.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Thanks for all the contributions so far, but four entries? I'll be extending this for until Wednesday.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Optically, I really like NOS' shot. The lighting and the camera perspective are pretty interesting, a very free interpretation of the theme, though. Timothy's way of portraying the scene seems very obvious, and the shot itself seems pretty boring to me, as well.

As for me, I could just not come up with an interesting interpretation of the theme. Everything I thought of was either way to obvious or boring.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Sorry, I've been on a camping trip over the weekend.

4th: Timothy Ratner
Not wild about most things in this shot. The lighting is rather bland.

3rd: The Frozen Brick
It's nice, but just a bit plain. A good interpretation, but it could also fit in to many other themes.

2nd: Just_a_Minifig
A bit dark, I think and there's a bit of empty space above the reflection's head. I like the interpretation of the theme, though.

1st: NOS
I prefer the first entry. Very dramatic and an interesting interpretation. Would have been nice to have it in widescreen, I think.

Better late than never. mini/wink

I think this is a pretty interesting theme. I'll probably make one more entry, because I have another idea for that. mini/smile

Woah, fib, that's very subtle and clever.
