Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

Finally started scripting. I've scripted the opening scene, and a few character profiles, I'll have a casting call up in (hopefully) the next month, and I'll start animating. Lots to do!!!!

Is anyone going to make a documentary on the making of their film. I think I will, would you guys like something like that?

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

I have my character profiles done, and the opening scene written.  I'm not making a documentary, but I'm going to have a blooper reel.

Heehee, I may not be a great animator but I'm a great storyteller, and I know the rules.

You don't need time travelling to make an alternate future. Simply set your story in the past, make it clear what period and moment it is so the viewer is familiar with the real history, then do what you want to change it.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Thanks, but I wanted to know if they were used in that time period. Oh, and accordions as well?

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Drums have been used since BCE (I really prefer saying B.C, but now it's not politically correct). You'll be fine using them. As for accordions: The accordion's basic form is believed to have been invented in Berlin in 1822. See here: Wikipedia - Accordian History

Never mind about being politically correct. mini/smile

Yeah, maybe not. I personally think it's stupid changing Before Christ to Before Common Era (I'm not religious, but the Before Christ part didn't bother me). Apparently this has been done due to the growing number of different religions. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against religion, I just think it was fine the way it was.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

Okay, so I'll use drums but not an accordion (the accordion would be hard to build, anyway).

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

I just got a test shot up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0wiL4Nh29Q It took me like an hour to film this part, and it's only two seconds long. It's the waterfall I tell ya! mini/tongue

Well, that looks awesome. It's good that you're putting a lot of work into this.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

Thanks! Yeah, I've been working on it since before Thanksgiving. It should be like 15 minutes maybe judging from how it's coming along. If anybody wants to voice act, I need a few. I think I'm gonna put up a casting call soon.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

Looks good. The only thing I think could be improved is the water at the bottom of the waterfall, the square blocks don't work for me. But I loved the splashing effect when the characters hit the water. Also the falling water, it looked quite flat, but the way it fell was really good.

It'll be good to see a lego Western, I'm looking forward to it.

I am a Christian, and the thing that bothers me is that all of a sudden a term that has been used for close to 2 thousand years, some think needs to be changed. Many times it is good to leave well enough alone.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY idea disscussion thread

Thanks FilmFire96! Yeah, that's kinda a finished shot, so I don't think Imma go back. mini/sad But there's always next time I animate a waterfall..... Okay, seeing it was SUCH a nightmare, I don't know if I'll do it again. Haha. mini/lol Yeah, I did the Western particularly because there aren't many, and I wanted to be extraordinary.

Yeah, agreed with RedBrick1, I'm a Christian too, so I like to have Christ as the pivotal point in history. However, it'd be kinda silly to change I think, it would sound best to leave it as it is maybe, even if your not Christian, I mean, it's not that big a deal, specially if you don't care about religion. mini/confused (However, I don't like to call myself a Christian even, the world is full of churches with "cheap grace" and there aren't like any radical Followers of Christ anymore.) Please note, I don't intend to offend anyone in any way, nothing is intended against you here, just sharing my views and stuff. mini/wink

Seconded, though I'm not a Christian, and it still doesn't bother me. But this is a little off-topic.

My TOY entry will be a medieval comedy with Clumsy Bob as the main character. The title is "Sir Clumsy Bob". I've finished the script and built some sets, but I haven't started filming yet. Here's a promo image:
