I like using clay for blood, because it reminds you that you're in a brickfilm, but isn't too silly as using red bricks.
If your in a rush (which you shouldn't be to make a brickfilm) use clay, if not, use maybe some ketchup with a little water.
Red markers are good for making blood on a minifigures face.
Personally, I think there should be less.
I dislike blood in brickfilms, that's my opinion.
Though, if you DO do it, I think it's best to use red LEGO pieces. I personally think it looks much better, and bothers me somewhat less.
Yeah, I'm the same.... sort of. I am fine with blood but I don't use it in my brickfilms.
I agree.
Pro tip: if you want a minifig's face to be blown off, use a soldering iron.

I agree. I don't like watching brickfilms with blood. for example, Keshens films have A LOT of blood.
In my upcoming rape/revenge styled exploitation film, The Red River Flows. I'm using, like Home for Supper, maple syrup mixed with red food coloring, it's very realistic.

That's pretty clever, actually. I always hear that you're supposed to use corn syrup, but you can't get that in Australia for some reason.
I used red shower gel in a few tests and X//:ARENA.
I liked the result...
Clay and GIMP.

Yes, it was quite impressive.
Clay
The down part...
Sometimes it will get mashed in and gets hard difficult to get out of in between the floor studs.

I like the idea of using ketchup and water...but using red clay looks good too. When I see red clay used as blood in a brickfilm, it still seems like real blood to me.
I've heard that ketchup and grape juice mixed together make good fake blood. Also, did you know that in some old black-and white movies, they used chocolate syrup for blood? No lie. It looks exactly like the real thing if you can't see color.
In Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho they used Bosco's Chocolate Syrup for blood.
When they did a parody of the famous Phsyco shower scene in Looney Tunes: Back in Action, they show Bugs pouring Hershey's Chocolate Syrup down the drain.
