Uh, doesn't Minecraft come out on November 18?

Yes, we're playing the beta version, if you get it in its current state, you get a discount.

And you get the full version for free. So if you're thinking about getting it, now is the time.

Until it goes down in price like most games do several months after they're released. However, it may not necessarily be cheaper then, either.

I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Do we have to re-buy Minecraft?

No. If you have already purchased the game, then you will automatically get the official version. However, for anyone who does not purchase the game before the release of the official version will have to pay full price.

I somewhat doubt that will happen. It'd be a nasty heel face turn from Notch to lower the price after release. It isn't going up to 60 euro or anything extreme anyway.

Everyone is welcome to join, server members and non server members alike. Server members are especially encouraged because I'll be using G+ to make server announcements exclusively to members, such as announcing special events.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

BIG announcement from Pixelated Pickaxe. You can read more on the G+ page (https://plus.google.com/111335443404922034798/posts), and I've also copied the info below:

Today, Minecraft goes out of beta and is officially released. To celebrate, I'm making a big change to Pixelated Pickaxe. Over the next week, I will be switching to LethalDrive to host the Pixelated Pickaxe server.

With this change comes an increase in RAM (from 512 MB to 768 MB), which means a big reduction in lag. LethalDrive also boasts a 99% uptime, and their servers never crash. In a temp map, I attempted to crash the server by setting off enough TNT to obliterate fifty Wells Manors, and the server didn't budge. That's something my previous host can't compete with.

The player slots will also be increased from 8 players to 20 players (!!!)

LethalDrive is one of the most stable and trusted Minecraft server hosts around. The guys from the Shaft Podcast use LethalDrive, as does Minecraft Mondays and even Hat Films (the guys who make the OFFICIAL Minecraft trailers for Mojang).

This is a huge upgrade, and the best news is, it's only costing me 50 more cents monthly!

My subscription to my previous hosting service runs out on the 24th of this month. That is when the Wellstowne Frontier map will officially close (don't worry, a download of the map will be made available shortly after). With a new host comes a new IP, which I will release shortly.

The new world will of course be whitelisted, and this world will return to the survival roots of Wellstowne Classic. However, there will be some differences. There will be a stronger focus on community building, and instead of individual members maintaining shops, all server members will contribute to a community warehouse where all supplies are stored. More details on how the new world will function will be released shortly.

Finally, the launch of the New Wellstowne map on the upgraded Pixelated Pickaxe server will mark the start of Season 3 of Pixelated Pickaxe! (For those who are wondering, I consider episodes 1-60 season 1, and episodes 61-85ish season 2, since season 1 encompasses the entirety of Wellstowne Classic, and season 2 covers Wellstowne Frontier).

In the meantime, enjoy Wellstowne Frontier. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade it latest Minecraft release as soon as it becomes available.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

Sounds great Nathan, hopefully this means that you can whitelist more people onto the server.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

On a server my IRL friends and I use, we created this wall. Not sure on the exact dimensions. I asked the admin and he said "Really, really big".

The entrance:

Might I add that all the cobble was legitimately gathered and crafted by 4 people.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

The fact you're in creative mode has me doubting. mini/eh

I've started a new single player world to bridge the gap between now and when the two servers I play on (Nathan's and brohoof.com) update. Here's how I'm doing so far:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Zoot101/Screenshots/minecraft-humble-beginnings.png

It doesn't look like much (that's still my first-night house) but let me tell ya, it was a nightmare getting those sheep. The biome I'm in doesn't have any sheep in it, so I had to go sailing across the ocean to find a place that did have sheep in it. Once I got there I had to grow some wheat, then coax the sheep back across the entire ocean where I finally managed to put them in captivity. I brought four with me though, but shortly after I arrived two mysteriously disappeared...

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

I see you shaved a baby sheep. Waste.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

I tried crossing an ocean... over 17 thousand blocks, and I think I'm still in the middle of it, unless you count islands that take about a day to walk around.

Re: The Minecraft Thread!

Sadly, nothing much has really changed. It's mostly just a pointless milestone when Notch will just updating it. And NPC's still don't do anything. And what happened to that modding support? I think what happened to notch is tried to fit too many features, or try to listen to his audience too much and the game has developed from what his original goal was. I still long for a rpg style minecraft game, similar to skyrim, where you could wander the world and get quests...

Fourth paragraph.

Also remember that, although Minecraft is now 'official', that doesn't mean it won't be updated. It's true that Notch has stretched himself a bit too thin by including many new features with a deadline around the corner, but this is mainly as a big bonus for Minecraft's release. He will still be working on them, improving them, updating them et cetera. And as always, everything in Minecraft is optional, that's what makes it so unique, fun, and interesting.
