Well there are many places in California that would work that aren't too far away. Do you ever visit San Francisco or Yosemite?
Nice idea! I'm going to the beach today for 3 days so I'll take a picture of my minifig there! But I'm still wondering WHERE at the beach...

That would be nice, but it's hard enough remembering to bring a minifig to wherever it is you're going, let alone a specific one. I had to rush into a nearby shop to buy the cheapest set I could find to take a picture with Nelson's Column.
Hey, should I take a pic of my sigfig outside the LEGO store in bluewater? Not really iconic, but still....
