I'd be interested to see if they could apply the same ideas they used in the All-Star Superman comics to a film, making him even more blatantly over the top than the established films have. It worked fairly well for that series. I mean, lets face it, if Superman were to fight like Batman there would be no more crime... ever. The whole idea behind Batman is that he's a normal guy, so he has to take extreme measures to fight crime and win. With Superman, he doesn't have to resort to breaking people's necks with his bare hands to end a fight, and unlike Batman, he can hold back and still survive against most people. His appeal is in crazy massive situations that only Superman could handle, and managing the ethics of what he does- whether he should act as a human who is just doing the right thing, or a god who is keeping humans in line- and to what end. Seeing a dark, ultra-violent Superman would really make no sense to me, regardless of how many people think it is the right way to go- sure, it's original (for the films), but I don't think it's within reason for the character, given the extent of his powers.
That said, maybe Nolan doesn't want to apply the approach he took to Batman to Superman. Or maybe I'm wrong altogether, and a dark Superman is really a great idea. I dunno, I'm not really adamant about any of it; wasn't a huge Dark Knight fan, wasn't much into the last Superman film either.
I agree.
If you look at 'The Dark Knight', when the Joker places the bombs on both those ships, Batman can only watch helplessly. Its not that he sucks (he doesn't, and hopefully never will again) its just he's not heroic enough to deal with such heroic situations. But without Batman swooping in to save them, we wouldn't have had such a powerful moment.
Moments like that would be lost if Superman just threw both the bombs into the sun. Sure, it would be cool, but it wouldn't be powerful, dark, and edgy would it? It would be bombastic, and done to the Superman theme tune.
Batman beats up bad guys, which is something we all love seeing. But if you asked Batman to get your Cat down from the roof, he would kick you in the nuts and then break the arms of a mugger down the street. He's always been an anti-hero (apart from in 1960) whilst Superman is a hero. A dark edginess could work, but it would be incredibly difficult....
A dark edgy Superman is a silly, unwatchable/readable Superman.
The other day, I was thinking... If they ever mad a movie adaption of "The Dark Knight Returns", I think the best actor for Bruce Wayne/Batman, it would be none other that the awesome Clint eastwood:

(Even at that age he looks badass!

Then I read this:

I did some searching, and it seems like it's true, Zack Snyder wants to make it.
If he says yes, I say yes too, because I for one liked the Watchmen movie, despite it's many flaws...

When Watchmen came out I really liked it. He also did a good job with the remake of Dawn of the Dead. He should probs do it.
Also, looks like he's doing the superman reboot (according to Wikipedia).
PS: CLINT EASTWOOD!!!

I thought of something the other day actually, completely off the subject of Clint Eastwood, it's about Arkham Asylum (The video game).
One of the makers of the game jokingly said he "cried a little bit" when he saw how much people used detective vision, because it covered all the hard work that had gone into making the enviroment...
Well I have a solution, and it's as simple as a button switch..
Swap the way you activate Det-Vision and Enviroment Analysis!!
Make it so that you have to hold down L2 to make Det-Vision appear, and then when you let go, Det-Vision is deactivated. It's that simple! No-one will go through the whole game holding down L2, amirite?
OMG DUBBLE POAST.
Some people have said Eccleston for Joker.
When I first heard, I was thinking; "Are you serious?!?!"
But then I made an EXTREMELY BAD Paint.net image:

I can see where they're coming from, but still, I'm not convinced. I don't think he has the acting skills for Joker.
I'm still going for Vincent Cassel if they make a new Batman series.
Willem would be way better IMO.
For some reason I thought Tommy Lee Jones (if they make him look younger) had good potential for a new Joker.
Your right that is
Double Post!: Hopefully that game will be challenging because I am definitely getting it when it comes out.
Oh, wow. I didn't realise that that was CGI at first. Intense.
First look at Tom Hardy as Bane!
I love the mask.. It's the right mix between normal gas mask and Bane's comic mask.
I preferred the cheesy comics from the 50s...

after ugh... Batman and Robin, the whole classic mask of bane was ruined for me, so it's good to see that they're making a new look for him.
The choice of Bane has made me even more nervous. Like the sequel itself - it could work...but there is always the possibility of it going horrendously wrong. Whenever I think of Bane, I think of that other Batman movie which shall not be named. I thought Nolan was trying to remove all connections to THAT movie.
But if he's pulled off right - he'll be freaking awesome!
