jailbreaking is cracking an iphone/ipod touch so you can put non-apple apps on it.
I only did so I can get cool themes. I was not actually aware that you could get Apps for free.
Eh, Chuppa, I don't think you understand what he means. Jailbreaking just allows you into the phone's UNIX structure so you can do certain things with your phone without waiting for Apple to make official software and such. It's pretty common to jailbreak your phone so you can use it with other networks than AT&T. Jailbreaking in itself isn't theft.
