A very good episode it was.

There are so many people who die a lot on Doctor Who. Jack, Rory, the Doctor himself, and now we have a new dying person. He he

Where were you able to see it? I'd like to find this episode.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

If you don't mind paying $2 for it, you can get it from Amazon.com.
I'll probably wait until it becomes Prime eligible.....But only if I can hold out that long. mini/wink

Spoiler (click to read)

Just thought I'd share something that will probably play a bigger part of Jenna Louise-Coleman's story.

Her character was born on the same date Doctor Who first aired in 1963 and it's the date we'll celebrate it's 50th anniversary. She also lived 26 years, the same amount of years the classic series was produced.
Coincedence or is it Moffat again?

My friend had it recorded on his DVR, I watched it while visiting his house today.

My mum told me that the full episode is airing again on Saturday.
I'll probably re-record it and watch it again since my friend didn't have it in HD.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I don't know if the reaccurance of dying/reviving character arch is a good thing though. On a different note, I got the Doctor Who first season (2005) box set for Christmas, and it is absolutely brilliant. It's been ages since I've seen it, and I recommend all of you, if possible, to watch it!

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I don't exactly watch Doctor Who, but apparently the new companion was a voice actor in Xenoblade Chronicles.
I'm kinda tempted to start watching now...

Well, since the thread was bumped, I'll take this chance to post the Series 7, Part 2 trailer.

Ya'lll have probably all already seen it, but there it is anyway.
Any thoughts?

The new villains look really cool. Particularly the Victorian Slendermen.

I'm glad Neil Gaiman will be writing another episode.

BUMP

If you have knowledge of the classic series, you'd be somewhat excited to hear that pictures of the new Ice Warriors were released recently:

...and I like them very much - the designers have stuck close to the original iconic design, but have also added quite a bit more detail. The only bit I don't like is the groin, it's a bit iffy and doesn't fit in well with the rest of the design. mini/lol

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

If I may offer my opinion without a huge Classic/New Who discussion arising, I don't really care for it that much.

It reminds me too much of the clunky, bulky rubber suits of old Who. While those are great and fine for the classic style, it's going to be difficult reconciling that to the Modern settings. Funny thing is, at first glace, the above looks like a fairly detailed action figure...Which didn't help it's first impression.

A lot can be done with the way they move, and how they are filmed. So they'll probably come out just as threatening as anything else, and I won't be too judgmental on it until then. mini/wink

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I'm pretty sure that is an action figure (Notice the thumb pivot point).

Wibbly Wobbly Bumpedy Bump

So, what did we think of the recent Doctor Who episode about the dreaded evil WiFi? I found it to be a dull meh filler episode, which consisted of a stupid plot full of Steven Moffat recycling his tried-and-tested strategies. Tardis phone ringing? The caller might as well have said, "Are you my mummy?" Android WiFi beam things? It should have said, "Donna Noble has left the library." The episode's only redeeming quality really was Clara.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

From what I've heard, it's about average. And really, WiFi?
The anti-TV episode was bad enough, but now they hate WiFi?
And he couldn't come up with a better name than Spoonheads?

Anyway, finally saw the latest Christmas special, and with the exception of Clara, nothing that spectacular. Christmas specials have been hit-and-miss, so I'd say this is one of the better ones. And everything may make more sense once I watch the first part of Series 7. mini/tongue

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

i was too busy rolling my eyes at the way they used the word wi-fi and how they typed on the computer to pay attention to anything else so i didn't think the episode was very good

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

As a long standing Doctor Who fan (since Jon Pertwee) I have to say I really really hate what Moffat is doing with Doctor Who. His writing is sloppy, relies to much on Deus Ex Machina endings (a seemingly unsolvable problem is suddenly and abruptly resolved, with the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability, or object).

The last episde was basically a total rewrite - oh wait hang on

a total rewrite of the episode called 'The Wire' where TV Sets sucked out your conciousness.

In this 'New' episode it is computers or phones connected to Wifi, does exactly the same thing, sucks out your conciousness, leaving human husks behind. The baddie is a woman again.

Doctor Who rides a motorbike again (Ok last time it was a moped).

Doctor Who's companion is a victim of the soul sucking again

Boring, badly written C***

Whatever happened to the decent stories that lasted a few episodes that were not rushed, had somewhat sensible plots (not Doctor Who riding up the side of buildings on an anti gravity motorbike !!!)

Getting tired of Moffat constantly trying to write in stupidly convoluted time paradoxes and characters that keep popping up again and again etc.

If Doctor Who is going to survive then Moffat needs to let others write the scripts. Some of the best episodes recently were all by different writers.
