We are not arguing, we are having a civilized debate and exchanging facts.

Everyone remember when the PSN went down? You get what you pay for.

Yeah we don't have to pay at all, we don't expect a completely full proof system, if Sony give everyone the second option of a premium service just as good as Live, the ps3'll have won the online gaming experience.

Also, the 360 isn't quiet even when you install the disc, it's just as bad as the original xbox, from startup you can hear a whirring noise constantly. It may not be that bad by itself, but when you've compared them, there is a huge difference - I'd also rather not have to waist time installing a game when I could jump right into it. Also, if I ever want to watch a DVD on the 360, I'll have to put up with the noise it makes.

They sell replacements for the PS3 controller batteries becuase Sony don't treat their customers like Microsoft do. PS3 owners get built in wifi, rechargable controllers, blu-ray and high quality hardware standard, while if you want all that on a 360 you're gonna have to rake up about an extra $200 (wifi + charging kit + the old HD DVD drive)

And I've got a friend whose household is just completely xbox, and he still admits that the d-pad on the xbox is a nusance compared to the one on the ps3.

Also, why are you even bothering to argue about the reliability of the 360 hardware? I don't know a single person who still has their first 360, even the guys who bought one less than a year ago have them die on them, I only know one person to have a launch ps3 die on them, and he is a hradcore gamer. MS said they solved the hardware problems over a year ago, and while it has improved, it's still got an awful track record over the last 2 years.

The 360 does not natively support full HD, is there anyway other simpler way I can tell you that? Inside the 360 it reads a game at up to 720p, and still inside the xbox, it converts that to 1080p, and then it sends it to the TV, so even if your TV input says 1080p or whatever, your xbox is not natively playing full hd, the xbox hardware and an ordinary dvd will have a huge struggle to natively play a game at 1080p, which is another reason why the blu-ray player is much better.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

All the reasons mentioned above are why I bought a PS3.
But it doesn't matter if you state a whole bunch of facts on why you think the PS3 is better then the Xbox, all the Xbox people will still think their console is better.

In other news: I GOT SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2
It is possibly the best Wii game ever.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Critics are saying that "Red Dead Redemption" is the best Western Game ever. It sounds really good, but.....how many Western Games are there? And good ones at that?

Never mind. I'm annoyed that my TV has been taken away for fixing (though I doubt it shall ever be returned) meaning I cannot play my PS1/2. How else am I supposed to distract myself from revision?

Everyone I know with the current model still has it. I know one guy who bought a launch model and that died after a while.

From Xbox.com, I shall not say it again. Xbox 360 delivers a full native HD experience. Prior to this update, all games had to have a minimum of 720p while only 40 or so games were actual 1080p. This update changes all of that to give you full HD all around.

I might also add that the 360 now is capable of 3DTV support thanks to a deal with LG.

Playing with your friends for a year:

Xbox 360: £27.97

PS3: £0

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I love it when PS3 fanboys use the price of online multiplayer as their main reason to tell why it's better. $30-$50 USD for one entire year of Xbox Live is NOTHING. I feel sorry for you if you can't afford that.

And Dr007, I don't know what type of Xbox 360 you have (modded?), as my Xbox sounds like it's about to explode whenever I'm playing games (installed onto hard drive) and DVDs.

I can't afford it.

Also I thought it was £40/year.

Also I have a 360.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I hate when people argue which is best. Its simple, decide what you want then buy that. Take into account what your friends have, what games you like, whether you want full HD or not, whether you want Blu Ray, which community you like best and how much money your willing to spend.
I did this and I got a PS3 and I have never regretted it. I gave it a bigger 320GB HDD because 40GB wasn't enough, but after 3 years its never broken down and the updates have only made it better. I also modded my controller to make it more like 360 one, so don't use the 360 controller as an excuse to get a 360 over a ps3 or vice versa because you can get controllers for 360 that are a lot like ps ones and just mod ps3 ones. There are just as many quality exclusives for ps3 as there are for 360 so you cant really go wrong ether way if your all about the games. But if you like racing games then get a 360 because I cant see GT5 being released any time soon, its already 3 years late.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Price for one year of Xbox live in Aus, $47AU, do the currency conversion and that's low. Even for someone like me mini/tongue

My Xbox isn't modded, it's the current model which I bought at the beginning of this year in the after xmass clearance sales. When did you get your Tim R?

EDIT: I just did the math, if you bought a 360 and enough live for six years which is the average length of a computer game console generation then the 360 comes out cheaper.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

The argument that you have to pay for online is irrelevant. Think about the idiots you get on PSN - would they still be on there if it was free? Why would you bother spamming and hacking - risking getting banned when you are paying your own precious cash for it. If I was paying for online, I would just want to enjoy playing. Think, you would get mature(ish) adults or teenagers who want to enjoy the game and have fun, rather than some whiny 11 year olds who just want to teabag, spam, and break the boundaries of what annoys you.

And whilst £27.97 may be a stretch for kids like me who have no kind of income whatsoever apart from leeching off parents; if your a hard working adult paying hundreds for tax and insurance - its nothing.

Not saying I prefer the 360 (I own none apart from a Wii, but they don't count mini/tongue ). I'm just saying that paying for online isn't really the strongest argument. I mean, its actually cheaper to buy a PS3 than a 360 AND a Blu-Ray Player....but that's another argument for another day....

To be fair, it's not just good as a game in the Western genre. It's a great game overall compared to other games in general. I enjoy Red Dead Redemption infinitely more than I've ever enjoyed GTA IV.

but.....how many Western Games are there?

Not enough.

And good ones at that?

Not enough.

Damn, you've got to be half deaf if you can't hear it playing even DVD's, Tim's already said that his sounds like it's 'going to explode' when he plays on it, don't tell me that neither your own, or any of your 'mates' xbox's make a noise when you play on it. (Edit: I meant 'mates' in a way that meant you've been using it as a back-up for all of your arguments, not that I don't think you have any friends.)

And how much more is a PS3? It's over an extra $200.

Nope, exactly the same, and you could save more if you import it, and you won't have any problems with region-coded games, since the ps3 doesn't have region-coding, something that the 360 does. - I should have mentioned this earlier, being an aussie gamer, you'd surely know that we get charged way more than we should for games at retail, importing games from the US is a hell of a lot cheaper.

New game at retail in the US - US$60 (AU$70)
New game at retail in Aus - AU$110 (US$95)

Everyone I know with the current model still has it. I know one guy who bought a launch model and that died after a while.

You mean everyone who had a launch 360 still has it, and in working condition? I'm calling absolute !@#$ if that is the case.

From Xbox.com, I shall not say it again. Xbox 360 delivers a full native HD experience. Prior to this update, all games had to have a minimum of 720p while only 40 or so games were actual 1080p. This update changes all of that to give you full HD all around.

Hmm, okay, well thats what I meant when I said that the 360 can upscale to 1080, obviously the interperetation of the term is up in the air, I'll put it a little more simply if you like. DVD's cannot, under any circumstance, play Full HD right off the bat, only Blu-ray discs have that capability. Since DVD's can't play HD straight from the disc, this means the 360 has to do some internal work to blow it up to 1080. Don't give me any more rubbish on this topic, the 360 can't play 100%, real, full, native HD, or whatever. If you still think it can, fine, but then just remember the PS3 can handle it much better

I might also add that the 360 now is capable of 3DTV support thanks to a deal with LG.

So only LG 3dtv's will work with the 360? I'd rather have the option to choose any 3dtv on the market - a choice my ps3 gives me.
