Re: Lego Egypt Film

Well I ain't working that long! I'm getting it the DAY it comes out. Also, when I say I've never been this excited for a brickfilm, I do mean it - and after 6 years of watching brickfilms I say that's a pretty big deal, although I still remember all my anticipation building up to 'Driven'.

Re: Lego Egypt Film

Nah, this may be a great looking film, but by no means will it be the best brickfilm. Others may look worse, but have a stronger theme, meaning, etc. This is just an adventure.

So... I don't see why you would want to buy this when you can simply watch it on YouTube/Vimeo. Yeah. But I'm not saying I don't like it, it looks amazingly awesome- I can't wait either, but buying a DVD? Nah.

Re: Lego Egypt Film

Yeah you can, if you get a cable connecting your computer to your tv screen.

Despite what the brickfilming community has been putting out for the past few years, I still see LEGO as a primarily humorous, innocent toy best suited for a film that's all about the fun. The enjoyment that you're supposed to get out of playing and building with LEGO, but in story form. It's amazing what kind of achievements there have been in storytelling that have gone beyond the mere "childish" aspect of it, but as far as brickfilms go, I wouldn't judge a film better because there was a stronger meaning to it; only because it amused me more than something else. Hey, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is a nice movie. It's just an adventure movie, though, so why buy a dvd of it, when there are movies with a much stronger theme?
Buying a DVD of a ten minute short would seem pointless either way, but it's still a nice thing to own - like stated above, seeing it on a tv screen makes it entirely different.

Like everyone else, I'm also looking forward to the film. If the first minutes are something to go by, the rest of it will be pretty damn good. Not an amazing story, no, but pretty to watch and funny to boot.

What basis do you have to say it is "just an adventure"? The film isn't released yet. None of BiM has seen the script yet so far as I know. All we've seen is a few stellar animation tests and scene/setup pictures. It's not out yet, so there's no basis at all on which you can say others have "a stronger theme, meaning, etc." Maybe it's just me, but the first three sentences of your post came off as incredibly cocky, arrogant, and awfully presumptuous.

I don't see what's so wrong with buying a DVD. To me it's not just saying that you think it's worth paying to watch a film, but it's also a way of supporting the creator(s) of the film. Plus you also get the bonuses of watching it on a TV, having a hard copy of it that you can still watch, even if the video were to be taken down from YouTube or Vimeo or wherever it's being hosted. You're seriously rejecting the idea of buying a DVD of it, even though 4 members already said they'd buy it, and many other members encourage selling it?

On topic of the film, I'm super hyped for this. When's the new and improved release date?

Re: Lego Egypt Film

I'm assuming that the DVD won't just have the film on it. I'm expecting behind-the-scenes looks of every set, every complex shot, and time-lapses. Maybe a look at his voice acting, too.

^ Please dont make a shameless plug to yourself Alfa, dont do that unless it helps the conversation.

And about the DVD, I feel if it is worth buying, it would support the filmmaker's budgets also, I wouldn't mind having a hard copy with behind the scenes and others.

sorry if i was to bother you, yea, I have made three DVDs, no where near like mobiledeli's, but i was just saying that making a DVD is a good Idea.

Re: Lego Egypt Film

Whatever your plans are for releasing this film, what I've seen looks great, and I can't wait till you share the final product with us mini/bigsmile  If you do make DVD copies, I agree that behind the scenes footage, outtakes, sets, etc would be very fun to watch.
