DUDE, AWESOME JOB!
*Bumpedy-bump*
Here's a copy (or you could just look at my signature) :

You may not consider it a logo (it's understandable), but my signature/banner is the closest thing I have to one right now. In case your wondering, I drew the horse on a blank A4 sheet of paper, scanned it into the computer, converted it into a PNG and then touched it up in Pixelmator. I also made the rest in Pixelmator, too (that took about 20 minutes). I also applied a vintage effect (and mind you, I'm not one for Instagram-like pictures) to create the blurred, somewhat retro imagery. To emphasise the spinning of the horse, I added a bit of motion blur. I'm a bit torn on this - not sure if I like it or not. I'm actually working on a proper logo though, which may or may not consist of a carousel...
It'll be a bit more inventive than that.
I'm also attempting to make it using a vector format, opposed to your typical raster image (I'm experimenting with the trial version of Sketch 2, which is basically the vector counterpart of Pixelmator). Any feedback would be appreciated!
nice....... very pink... maybe make your Avatar the same design....
I'm thinking of dropping the pink/magenta, and instead going with black, white and some oranges or reds. Glad you like it though!
I kind of like this thread, so I'll breath some new life into it with my newly completed logo...

Took me roughly two days to make in Pixelmator (although I've been planning/sketching it out for over a year). I went for a b/w vintage effect with minimal base colours, but I also based the circle patterns behind the horses on a particular scene from the classic Doctor Who serial The Tomb of the Cybermen (where Jamie and another man discover a mesmerising cyber pattern, for those who've seen it), and continued the method onto the 'roof'.
That's actually really good! ![]()
I like it, Carousel. ![]()
Glad you two like it. I'll put in that I also drew the horses in Pixelmator, making sure that the head, limbs and tail were separate from the body, so they could be easily rearranged. I hope to animate it one day, some how ![]()
If done in Photoshop, those separate elements can then be imported into After Effects and animated
Just thought you might like to know. I think the logo looks great btw ![]()
Thanks for the useful info Josh - the horses, and everything else, were done in Pixelmator (my personal favourite image editor), but they were made in sections so I could easily make them into different poses for each of the four individual frames on the logo. I hope to animate the entire logo, so everything spins clockwise, and get the same moving/gallopiing effect as Google's take on Eadweard Muybridge's Zoopraxiscope:

I hope this is achievable! But thanks for the kind words none the less. ![]()
Yeah that will look great man! Hope you find a way of doing it!
Hopefully
I'll probably end up using Apple's Motion 5... but I think I'll focus on actually making some real animations first
!
I didn't like the logo at first but then I actually looked at it and omg you genius. I love it. It is retro, clever, and pretty darn awesome. Although there is only one red section and maybe it would look better if the pattern alternated red and grey.
So I am taking a sort of graphic design course and we are supposed to make a logo for our magazine. My magazine is about local culture and here are my sketches. Expect to see a finished version if one of these eventually.
Also I know most of these are just little drawings. I figure our magazine is going for a retro-chic feel so for some reason a large majority of our ideas involve animals wearing top hats (they are bohemians!)
The shark reminds me of Prime Minister Dagger Fang. ![]()
I really like the white bat.
The shark is actually a Barton Springs Blind Salamander because he has external gills and stuff ![]()
Yeah, my top two choices here are the bat and the beatnik mockingbird. The former probably paired with a sophisticated serif font like Garamond.
Well topitmonkeydog, a lot of lying on the ground daydreaming went into it, and with you and the other's positive reactions, I think it might just of paid off
. I think the key to a successful logo is to start with a defining idea, and then refine and adapt it until it meets your needs, and overall, just experiment. My original concept was quite different - I might post it one day. I personally like the solitary red, but thanks for the input. May I ask, but why didn't you like it at first?
And out of your sketches, I like them all, but the standouts are the top-hat bat, beret bird, Penny-Farthing and the little man in the bottom left hand corner.
I am not sure why I didn't like your logo at first, besides the fact that I didn't get a good look at it. It might be because I am not a fan of "cel shading" if that is what it is called. Personally I prefer smooth shading but this is fine ![]()
