Re: The Animation Challenge
I think the problem with this larger challenge is that it was announced around the same time as TOY and Mission: Impossible, which both feature, y'know, prizes. It'd be cool if we get some good entries, though.

I agree with you Jargon, sometimes that warm fuzzy feeling isn't good enough.
Although what can you give out weekly? (Aside from warm fuzzy feelings)
I really hope that when this challenge ends, the weekly ones will come back, cause i don't think that this bigger challenge worked very well
Yeah...
Unless it's something that most people know. Like the Lightsaber fight that just sounds fun to animate. ![]()
And most people have a draft idea of what makes a good entry.
Sorry, Batman: Arkham Asylum has been my priority lately. I'll see if I can still scrap together an entry.
I may (small chance) be able to provide small prizes such as a minfigure or minifig weapon or accessory to the winners of the weekly contests.
I have so much LEGO anyway, there are some pieces I have many the same of (I have 40-something LEGO starwars guns that I never use as well as other pieces I consider useless).
We'll see. ![]()

I'm not suggesting we prizes be provided for the weekly challenges. Heck, I'm not suggesting they be provided for the larger challenges. I'm merely pointing out why this particular large-scale challenge has been shunted to the side by so many.
I for one didn't discover this challenge because... Eerrhmm... It wasn't in the contests section???
But intend to get cracking on this one...

This is not really a major contest to be honest. Major contests/competitions go in that section.
Your entry was pretty good, albeit a tad stiff. Nice work.

Lovely work, Boardron. In any case, I say we scrap this challenge until a future occasion where there are fewer large competitions and people are looking for something to animate. As it is something like free-running with stop motion is a time strain what with masking and all, so I can't see many people making something worthwhile while they're working on TOY or Mission Impossible.
I'd personally just like to keep the weekly challenge going.
I quite like LegO's idea. I really want to start my 'Magical stop motion contest' and 'TOY' entry, so maybe I'll sit this one out. As I said, I still think I can get the film done, but I'm not sure. My priority is going to be my competition entries. Lucky I haven't really started yet, so at least I haven't wasted time on a film I may never finish.
But yeah, the weekly ones were the best, because it kept the thread alive. The big ones are good ideas, but not when there's loads of other competitions going on. The fact there's no prizes doesn't really bother me, but I'd rather spend longer on a really good film and entering it into a competition against loads of others than rush an entry for this, where I may be the only qualifying entrant (i.e over 30 seconds).
Thats just my opinion, but currently I can't see many entries for this at all. Or atleast, not when TOYs on, which is a shame because if there weren't so many competitions going on at the moment I bet this would be booming with entries.
I may be the only qualifying entrant (i.e over 30 seconds).
Check my updated version.
But I do agree, weekly challenges with no prizes is probably the best way to go. Choosing the next challenge is a prize in itself and the weekly aspect with little to no restrictions makes it so that you will never be bored again at weekends. If you were to make proper prizes and restrictions then the fun would go.
Yea basically the prob here is the timing of these challenges. I mean TOY, mission impossible and this? There all just colliding together, so my brain is trying to think of what to do for 3 diferent things. Which in the end all my thoughts just cancel. Just cant find the time to work on 3 things, besides im on my second semester of school (which is the hardest). So my statment stays the same, bad timing. ![]()
WHERE IS THE PASSION FOR GLORY AND FAME HERE PEOPLE
Nah I'm kidding, I understand that this really doesn't rank high on you guys' list compared to the contests with prizes. I was gonna wait until there wasn't any other contests or whatnot going on, but it seems like there's a never ending stream of them (omg liek zombehs) so just thought "screw it" and posted it. Anyways, we'll be going back to weekly challenges as soon as this is over, I doubt we'll have another big challenge like this, considering how it's pretty much been a complete flop.
