Yeah.

Could someone please explain, this, "free running" thing? Does it mean we have to animate a minifig running, or something else?
Freerunning is running from one place to another place while doing parkour and being all ninja
Yeah, mine stunk. I know. I knew someone would point that there was no swimming in it. Well, now I know.

Actually, that is not exactly true; parkour is about getting from point A to point B as quickly and easily as possible. Free running is more about finding your own way, and being more aesthetically pleasing then parkour. Free running incorporates lots of flips and turns, which make it look better but are not "practical;" that is, they do not help you get up a wall, but they look much nicer. This might help.
EDIT: This too. <<If you watch that vid, you can see that he does a bunch of flips and whatnot off of posts above the ground; necessary? No. More efficient? Nope. Cooler looking? You betcha.

Parkour has nothing to do with getting from Point A to Point B Parkour is doing things like backflips off benches or hopping over rails. I would know since I'm a master at it. ![]()

Parkour is more of a way to get around, and free running is more of a way to express yourself. Backflips off benches to get around in the fastest way possible, yes. If you're doing them just to look aesthetically pleasing, then you're doing free running. Indeed, they incorporate much of the same general moves, but the reasoning is completely different.
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT HANDS UP I WANNA SEE EVERYONE'S HANDS UP THIS IS A HIJACKING
Official Animation Challenge #2: Freerunning
Howdy hey folks, it's finally here! The challenge you've all been waiting for! Basically what I wanna see here is some seriously cool parkour/freerunning animation (duh). Original animation styles, camera movements, concepts, etc. will all add to your overall score. If you're hazy on what parkour or freerunning is, I've whipped up a couple references for ya. I'm sure those and your pal Google will give you all you need to know.
Rules:
Your entry has to consist of a minimum of 30 seconds of stop-motion animation. CGI, Flash, and other media may be used. Entries composed purely of CG are allowed, as long as they are LEGO based.
Time Frame:
The challenge starts 5 seconds after this is posted, and ends March 5th, 2011.
Prize:
You get to put your hands down, a one-way ticket out the passenger door, and a boost in self-esteem.
