perhaps you could use helmets as shoulder pads like this:

That picture is not by Just_a_Minifig and I don't think he has tried using helmets like that at all.
My littlest brother thought he'd cheer me up one day by putting a blu-tak 'headband' on one of my minifigs. That gave me an idea....
But then it got scary.

Actually, that is from the sister theme here in europe, called Dino 2010, but they have the same torsos

I just made it, just for fun, because I got the idea somewhere.
