Rapid Creek makes its way through the Salvation Army Black Hills Camp in South Dakota. Shot with a Canon 60D DSLR and a Rokinon 14 mm lens. Snapped this while helping to supervise a week long Boy Scout trip.

@Legocloniac477: Nice sharp focus and smooth depth of field on the shot of the lizard!

RedBrick1, nice picture. I like the colors. Seems like a fun place to go camping. mini/smile

A few weeks ago I picked up a hybrid-macro Minolta lens and matching billows from a garage sale for a total of six dollars. After spending ten more dollars on a lens-less adapter and waiting two weeks for the adapter to arrive, I have finally been able to use the lens. The following pictures are neither edited nor cropped. mini/smile (click the link to Flickr to see the full quality)

Wow that's awesome. I love the Batman one, but the coin one stumped me until I realized it was a coin! Impressive.

Re: Photography

The composition of the fourth one is nice, it's very abstract. The strength of macro photography is the ability to abstract the subject and reduce it to simple colors, shapes, and textures, which you did with that fourth shot.

Re: Photography

It's been a couple weeks, so double post.

Here's a few more shots; there's a lot more over at Flickr (just click on one of the images).

Re: Photography

Went camping and took a few photos, first days shots somehow got deleted so I only have these macro shots, but they were the best shots I took anyway. Everything was handheld which is weird to me.

Re: Photography

You've got me interested in that lens, those images are quite sharp, and the bokeh on the last one is really interesting.

Re: Photography

Thanks, I think the 105mm Micro f/4 might be my new favorite lens, over the 55mm macro (although not as affordable it can be found for under $200)

Re: Photography

Went out to the country at night a got some great shots of the stars!

This one ^ has Mars and Saturn in it.

This was my first time doing this and I really enjoyed it!

Even though it's hard to get focus and the rotation of the earth screws with some of these, I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Looks like it is a permission issue, are you logged into your photo sharing site in both places? Looks like it is shared via a google service, make sure it's set to be globally view-able, or however Google+ works

Re: Photography

I haven't posted anything here before, mainly because I haven't had the chance to get any good photos that aren't LEGO related, but we went camping at Yosemite this weekend and borrowed a good DSLR and took several photos. I then chose the good ones, edited them, and here are my favorites of the good ones:

Re: Photography

Why would you not blink? That sounds awful. Have you ever held off from blinking for a while but finally blinked anyway?
It stings.

Blink is one of the best episodes of Doctor Who in recent history. Mr Vertigo was referencing the Weeping Angels, from the episode, that come to life when you blink.
