Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Look like nice deals!

I just got those:

I like the look and the design of the quinjet.

The alien soldiers look pretty nice!

I like the material Loki's crown is made of. It's like rubber.

I really like the Spiderman minifigure. The Doc Ock minifig is ugly. And the set comes from "The ultimate Spiderman". I hate this series!

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I also just got the Quinjet!  Fred Meyers had a "25% off all LEGO Super Heroes and Creator" and there was a "10% off Home" coupon, giving me a 35% off Quinjet...that's like $47, including tax!  Score!

I got a few new LEGO sets...White House Architecture set and 5 Series 10 CM's.

The Revolutionary soldier and the Tomahawk Indian are amazing mini/love   I need to get a bunch more of those guys!  The Roman Commander is also very cool.  The other two minifigs were mostly for certain pieces.

The White House is a really nice display piece.  I would love to use it in a movie and...have it get attacked (think along the lines of the White House Down trailer).  For the sake of political correctness, I think I'll just keep it on display...

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Last few weeks, I have bought:

http://images.wikia.com/lego/images/0/03/76000_alt2.png

http://images.wikia.com/lego/images/c/cf/76006_alt2.png

And I got a load of Minifigures, too: the Heroic Knight, the Cyclops, Grandpa, Trendsetter, Bumblebee, Warrior Woman and Mechanic.

Plus, when I was clearing out my grandparents' (on both sides) houses, I found loads of 80s and 90s LEGO that used to belong to my dad, cousin and even some of mine that I'd forgotten about. So I now have a huge amount of LEGO.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

El Bump.

Well, I went to the LEGO Store today and got a large PaB cup and four minifigs from the minifig maker thing:

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3746/9558998898_6f7c5623b2_c.jpg

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5465/9556212005_e626704663_z.jpg

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2881/9559000822_9747895a51_z.jpg

So, in total, I got:

129 1x4 bricks, light grey
86 1x4 bricks, brown
48 black bricks with 5 studs
16 black 1x2 "grille bricks"
32 dark green 1x1 bricks
288 1x1 round flat tiles (to be honest, I have no idea what I could make with so many of these, but I'll probably think of something... mini/XD )
168 cheese slopes in olive green!
8 1x2 tiles in trans light blue
50 1x2 tiles in purple

I was also impressed by the selection of minifig parts they had this time--there were quite a few rareish/expensive parts, like the Death Star Trooper torso (which I've wanted to get for quite some time).  I also saw Doc Brown's torso from the new DeLorean set and the new Scout Trooper torso from the Ewok Fort set, plus some LotR, Hobbit and Star Wars stuff (which I probably should have picked up as well, but oh well...).  Best of all, all this only cost me 75p because I had £15 on my VIP card!

Hopefully I can stop by again soon.  I still want to get some windows and transparent bricks...

(And yes, that is a bunch of my LEGO lying around on the floor of my room in the background.  I really need to clean up, or sort, or something like that....)

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I went to the LEGO Store yesterday and bought a load of stuff.

https://sphotos-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/q71/s720x720/1001600_706855555995294_818306464_n.jpg

I got The Black Gate, Wizard Battle, Desert Skiff, and four random minifigures.
Also, they gave me a little miniatute Volkswagen for spending over 75 dollars.

The Black gate is the best of the bunch.

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130411071528/lego/images/5/54/B_79007_box_side.jpg

It's got a loads of good bricks, particularlly the black, as my black collection has been running low lately, and it also has a few dark grey stone pieces, and I really love those.
It's a little small, but it still looks really cool.

But the best part is the Mouth of Sauron.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/q71/s720x720/1175475_706855765995273_161367582_n.jpg

His face is so useful.  I love it so much.  I'm delighted that they included a character from the extended edition.

And here are the minifigures:

https://sphotos-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/q71/s720x720/1014228_706856005995249_1032216075_n.jpg

The constant odd grin on that girl is really awkward, and I really wish it were a more neutral expression, which would be more suitable for brickfilming.  But I like the warrior bloke, and I'd love to use that welding mask to make some space man or robot.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I really want to get that Battle at the Black Gate (especially for that Mouth of Sauron head), and the Wizard Battle.  I don't know if I will be able to get it though as I still want to get Anakin's Jedi Interceptor, Metropolis Showdown, a Batman set, Attack on Weathertop, possibly one of the new(ish) City Police sets (which are some of the first good City sets in ages)... plus I usually try get a PaB cup and maybe some minifigs whenever I'm at a LEGO store.  And I'm not exactly rich.  Still, I've saved up quite a bit of money, and don't really spend it on much, so maybe I'll just go crazy and blow it all on LEGO the next time I visit. mini/lol

I also really like that Welder minifig, especially the helmet.  What does his face look like underneath?  Or is the helmet one piece that directly connects to the body?

Also, am I the only one here who immediately thought of the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth as soon as I saw that Mouth of Sauron head?

EDIT:  Oh yeah, a thought just crossed my mind, Squid--that Mouth head could be used for a great villain 'fig in our upcoming Sir Squid/Mr. Vertigo film....

How about for a Lego version of your Minecraft skin?

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

The Cyclops, Minotaur, Medusa, Mermaid and Poseidon that I ordered on eBay just arrived! They're really cool, and I have loads of ideas for Greek myth brickfilms that I've wanted to do for years that I can now do!

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

My Christmas loot:
Shelob
Dol Guldur
The Joker's Fun House
A Superman set
And ten collectable minifigures

https://scontent-a-atl.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/q71/s720x720/1545837_772310302783152_1544933913_n.jpg

I think the best is Dol Guldur.  It has a great load of grey bricks, which are to me the most useful thing to have in set building. I'm always wanting more for bigger rock faces and castles and cities and such.  It also has eight of those special brick bricks, which I've been wanting in dark grey for details.  I need more now.

I got ten minifigures.  One of those cops and one of the barbarians I got back in September, though.  Not pictured here is a trio of rock climbers I acquired, which is a shame because they are very, very ugly.  I doubt I'll find a use for them, but I hope I can somehow.

I'm really glad to have two of these sneeuwpops.  They both look really cool.

I now have a force of classic coppers.  I've switched their heads with smileys, though, which looks really great.

But I think my favourite is this old cat lady.  Her outfit is quite interesting, and could work for a girl at basically any age.  I might use it for the main character in the Absorbent Old Man.  Her face isn't much, but I love her hair, and would be very useful if I ever make this one other film I have planned.

Overall, it's been a delightful batch of gifts, which should benefit my future films.  I did not receive a single non-LEGO gift.  My family knows me so well.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I received Dol Guldur for Christmas, too. It's a great set, and has lots of pieces that should come in handy soon.

I also have the Joker's Funhouse from awhile ago, you'll definitely like that one, Squid.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Seems Dul Goldur was popular this year, as I both it, and the Beorn set.
I also got the Desolation of Smaug soundtrack, so I'm a very happy Hobbit fan right now.

Congrats on the big haul Squid, hope to see it all put to good use!

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I got the Delorean Time Machine, but I'm holding off building it so I have something to do once the post-Christmas blues kick in mini/smile

I also got the book 'LEGO Space- Building the Future', written by a couple of AFOLs, which is a kind of illustrated history of classic Lego Space, based around the Federation and Blacktron and such. It's filled with brilliant photography and models, highly recommend it as a good read and excellent inspiration for filming.

That's funny; so did I! I'm too lazy to post a photo of it though, but if any of you who are--for some reason--dying to know what this LEGO set looks like, there's always Google.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

The only LEGO I got for Christmas were two minifigures in my stockings: the Conquistador and the Evil Mech. That said, I got a great host of other amazing presents, including a bound copy of the book I wrote over the last few months.

I went to TRU to use a girftcard I had and also acquired that set along with two LEGO Movie minifigures (No pants guy and Taco Tuesday guy, could have been better).
Beorn is a pretty lame minifigure.  His face is perpetually stuck in a horrible expression and cannot be removed from his hair because the hair and head is all actually one big piece with a printed face which looks like a proper head hiding under a weird hair piece.
It's a shame really.  I didn't have a particular use in mind for that hair, but I was really wanting to try and find something.

The set was still worth it, though, for all of those grey pieces.
