i have had a mac for 2 years an they are fast they have lots of memory and good programs like imovie and framebyframe but it mean that getting a good camera for it it really hard
id say get somthing mac because its my instinct but it depends on the programs u mainly use.
i saw the new mac book air (its as thin as a sheet of paper) for 1400$ at the apple store.
the small size would seem ideal for animating and then you could move the files to your other mac for editing.
