Yes! Some competition! Hey everyone, send yours in sometime during the next two days!
Funmi, when do you plan to get the results out?
My apologies: Exam preparations have started. The winner is OneDouglas. I enjoyed how you interpreted the theme the most. HoldingOurOwn, yours was great too. I'd love to see it get made.
Thanks, Funmi. That is actually based on my very fist screenplay, "Candy", which I typed on a real typewriter back in 2002. The original story was 35 pages long.
The new theme is The Chosen One. The deadline is May 31.
I have finally come up with a story. I hope to type it in the next 24 hours.
I may take a shot at this. What is the page minimum and max?
Can I just post it here like Cooked Cat?

Can I just post it here like Cooked Cat?
Yes. Go ahead.
The minimum length is 1 page. The maximum length is 6 pages.
Remember, the deadline is tomorrow.
I'll get it done by tomorrow!
Here is my last-minute entry: THE HERO OF ORR. It's also properly formatted in PDF form.
Forgot to add: you'll see it's rustic fantasy, which is way outside my comfort zone.

THE HERO OF ORR
SCREENPLAY BY
MICHAEL C. TOURETTE
---
EXT. RUSTIC VILLAGE – DAY
The village is facing harsh weather: HIGH WINDS, TORNADOES, FIRE RAINING. BUILDINGS are losing balance and cathing on fire. Above it all it BRINDLE, a wizard, airborne and holding his arms outstretched.
NARRATOR (v.o.)
The village of Orr was under perpetual
attack by the Dark Wizard, Brindle, as
revenge for sending the hero who killed
his mentor.
Brindle raises one arm to the side, palm outstretched. A dragon appears before his palm and breathed fire on the town's crops.
NARRATOR (v.o.)
With the power to summon dragons, his
magic was unsurpassed. But a prophesy
foretold of a man with a generous
heart, the only one with enough magic
to defeat Brindle.
CUT TO a small BUILDING made of conglomerate stone. It is withstanding the damage, for now.
INT. STONE BUILDING – DAY
Seated at a ROUND TABLE are several MEN. All of them are missing limbs. WYLOFF has no arms and one leg. VILLAGER #1 is missing both ands and one arm. VILLAGER #2 is missing one arm. VILLAGER #3, the youngest, is missing one hand. On the table is an OPEN SCROLL.
WYLOFF
If no one puts a stop to Brindle, our
entire village will be destroyed!
VILLAGER #3
Let me go! I will use all the magic
within me to defeat him.
WYLOFF
You don't have enough. You're missing
a hand.
VILLAGER #1
Maybe it's enough.
VILLAGER #2
It's not enough. Only a whole person
has enough magic within him to counter
Brindle's magic.
WYLOFF
(pointing on the scroll.) Roth is
right. The prophesy says that a whole
person will use all his magic to defeat
Brindle and be known as the most
selfless person in the land. He will
be forever honored as the savior of the
land.
VILLAGER #1
There is no such person.
VILLAGER #2
Maybe two people can combine their
magic and defeat him together.
WYLOFF
No. Two people already tried that.
BEGIN FLASHBACK
BRINDLE is levitating, arms outstretched, causing havoc on the LAND OF ORR. TWO MAGES , each without arms, face him.
WYLOFF (v.o.)
They had two legs and their main
bodies' worth of magic, which is more
than the magic in a whole person.
Somehow, the same magic from two people
negates each other.
The two mages disappear, legs first. Brindle remains undisturbed.
END FLASHBACK.
WYLOFF
There must be one man in the village
who has all of his magic intact, who
can fulfill the prophesy and defeat
Brindle.
VILLAGER #3
There is one you speak of. But he is
not the man in the prophesy. For he is
the most selfish man in the entire
village. He has never used any magic,
ever. He protects his money like he
protects his wealth.
WYLOFF
Take me to him anyway. Maybe he's not
who the prophesy foretold, but maybe he
can hold Brindle off until we find him.
EXT. VINDICAR'S HOME – DAY
The HOME is like a miniature fortress – made from the most regular configuration of bricks. It seems undisturbed from the STORMS, FIRE, and other DESTRUCTION. WYLOFF follows VILLAGER #3 as the approach the house, braving the elements.
WYLOFF
Vindicar! Show yourself!
Enter VINDICAR from inside the home.
VINDICAR
Wyloff! What brings you here?
WYLOFF
I'm in search of someone to perform
magic in order to end Brindle's reign
of destruction.
VINDICAR
You've come to the wrong place! I
don't desecrate my body for anyone.
Not even myself.
VILLAGER #3
Can you at least let us in to discuss
it? Surely you can appreciate the
great risk we took just to get here.
Vindicar stretches out his arm in front of them, at the perimeter of the area protected from Brindle's magic.
VINDICAR
You may enter through here.
Wyloff and Villager #3 enter, passing below Vindicar's hand. All three are now in a calm area surrounding the home.
INT. VINDICAR'S HOME – DAY
VINDICAR, WYLOFF and VILLAGER #3 are seated at a GOLD TABLE. Many of the ITEMS IN THE HOME are crafted from gold.
VINDICAR
It's nice here, isn't it? For a mere
two additional silver pieces per
season, Moro the tax collector placed
an invisible shield around my home
which repels all magic. It was a one
hand spell. Why harm yourself with
magic when you can pay others to do it
for you? It also makes me question
Brindle's ability to be so powerful.
VILLAGER #3
Dark magic is destructive and consumes
the soul. Light magic is protective or
defensive and consumes the body.
WYLOFF
This is the reason we've come for your
help. You're the only one whose body
is intact enough to stop Brindle.
VINDICAR
So you want me to use my whole body to
fend off the threat? Never! I didn't
keep my body complete by squandering
it on magic! My house is protected, and so I
will survive his wrath.
VILLAGER #3
You'll be the only one. If you do
this, everyone else will survive.
VINDICAR
Then this entire town and all its
possessions will be my property.
WYLOFF
But, there will be nothing left!
VINDICAR
I will rebuild it myself, then.
WYLOFF
How would you do that? Do you know how
to cultivate land? Do you know how to
hunt for food? Do you know how to
build settlements? Or any of the work
required to meet life's needs? There
will be no one you can hire to do such
work for you.
Vindicar ponders for a moment.
VINDICAR
I don't want to, and I am afraid of
performing the magic, but I will do it.
VILLAGER #3
I'll be by your side. There will be
nothing to fear.
EXT. BRINDLE'S PRESENCE IN ORR – DAY
BRINDLE is in the air, arms outstretched. The STORMS flow from his hands. Enter VINDICAR and VILLAGER #3 from a small group of trees, swaying and on fire.
BRINDLE
Who dares to face me?
VINDICAR
I do. My name is Vindicar, and I will
put an end to this madness!
BRINDLE
You have never used magic before! You
cannot stop a master!
Brindle gestures, calling forth the DRAGON. The dragon sneers at Vindicar and breathes FIRE at him. Before the fire can harm him, Villager #3 raises his one hand in the air. The hand disappears. The fire deflects Vindicar without touching Vindicar, as if there is an invisible shield protecting him.
VILLAGER #3
Now1 Do it!
Vindicar raises his arms in the air.
VINDICAR
Brindle, Be gone from our land!
Vindicar quickly disappears, beginning with his hands, then arms, then legs, then the rest of his body. Brindle is consumed in flames of fire.
BRINDLE
Nooo! I can not be defeated.....
There is nothing left of Brindle. The dragon is also engulfed in flames. All of the natural phenomena disperse. Calm covers the land.
VILLAGER #3
This was truly the most selfless act I
have ever seen. Vindicar was man
chosen by the prophesy.
EXT. VILLAGE SQUARE – DAY
VILLAGERS are celebrating with food, dancing, and music. WYLOFF is among them, seated at a TABLE. He stands up suddenly to speak.
WYLOFF
Fellow villagers: the prophesy has been
fulfilled and peace has returned to
Orr. And we must never forget the one
to whom we are forever indebted:
Vindicar, the most selfless person in
the land.
Wyloff gestures to one side.
CUT TO: A TOWERING GOLD STATUE OF VINDICAR.
CUT TO: Villagers.
Everyone cheers in Vindicar's honor.
END TITLES.

Hey! Antonio F. wanted to join in but I didn't see him post. It's more fun when there's more competition!
Alright, here are the results. The winner is HoldingOurOwn. I absolutely loved his screenplay. I guess you could say he is The Chosen One. (Que rim shot.) Cooked Cat, your screenplay was good, but it would have been better if more things had been more explained. For example, why Joseph was the chosen one. Though overall both were very good.

good job Holdingourown.
Thank you for the honor. The next screenplay challenge, UNFORTUNATE TURN OF EVENTS, is something that came to me in the middle of the night.
ok, can we have a little more info?... thanks....
Okay. I'll make the story a bit more specific this time, since this can be anything that goes wrong in any story. Somewhere in the story, an unfortunate turn of events foils the well-laid out plans of the progatonist, and a new and novel solution is needed to overcome it!
