Re: Music That Inspires You
Ratatat's new album Magnifique is really great. I especially enjoy Abrasive and Drift.

Sina hejazi and instrumentals like Kitaro & Yanni.
Some of the songs from MUSE is really great, especially the stuff from their first few albums. I haven't listened to The 2nd Law, or Drones, all the way through yet, but some of the stuff on The Origin Of Symmetry really is amazing. Their songs really get me going.
Yes Muse is excellent.
If you like Muse, check out the song MOTHER NATURE by WITHIN TEMPTATION
Will do, thanks.
For me, it's Smile by Mikky Ekko or most songs by twenty one pilots, especially We Don't Believe What's on TV.
Lately I've been listening a lot to the albums "Yeezus" by Kanye West and "Emotion" by Carly Rae Jepson.
Legit, perfect albums. Good god, "I Am A God (Explicit)" and "Run Away With Me" been given me chills.
I'm listening to a pile of Golden oldies lately. Namely Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Culture Club, R.E.M and Richard Marx. Mainly due to that I have no interest in the stuff that the hipsters call 'music' these days
SLurping, I agree with your last statement.

What a load of pretentious crap. Music now a days is better than it has ever been due to that fact it is easier to make. With modern technology it is much more obtainable to make music. Recording equipment is now much cheaper and distribution is free with an internet connection. This has lead to a much more variety in music you just have to look.
I agree with AquaMorph. While obviously not all music is to everyone's taste, it isn't really fair to knock something that isn't your own personal preference.
I have quite eclectic tastes. I never used to, but now I listen to pretty much anything When I'm writing, I listen to a lot of film scores or electronic stuff (Glitch Mob is great), but as far as actual songs go my music library is bizarre. I have a lot of U2, Elvis, ELO, Knife Party, Andy Williams, some Bon Jovi, Blue Foundation, and a lot of Disney. Oh, and let's not forget Taylor Swift. I can't stop listening to Shake it Off.

Everyone has different tastes mate, okay? I grew up with 70's, 80's and even *gulp* 90's music as well. Its your opinion that music is better these days, and I respect that. Just because its easier to make doesn't mean its better. Its easier to make a portrait of a person in the day and age of 2015, but that doesn't mean its better now, does it?
I prefer music from 30s/40s/50s. I listen to a lot of Being Crosby, Frank Sinatra and have started to listen to Perry Commo. But I prefer not to listen to any music whilst actually filming, I find it too much of a distraction.

I'm saying 70's 80's and 90's styled music is still being made today. The year in which a song was made doesn't affect the genre.

The thing about music is that good music has always been made and will always be made, some decades will be easier to find music for some people because the popular taste of the times are in line with those people's personal style. If you can't find new or old music that suits your taste then you are just lazy.
I can't stop listening to Shake it Off
oh dear

The ease of creating music has nothing to do with quality. Movies are easier to make, books are easy to make, almost everything creative is easier to make today. It only means that more people are able to make it. And it also means that a lot of trash gets made, because you can't make the talent easier to make. There is great music of today, yesterday, and the distant past, but just as the saying says, "a good artist doesn't blame his tools", so too, the tool are not to credit for the quality of music.
I tend to think that while music today is technically superior, that the percentage of good music today is way lower. Feel free to disagree, as it's all a matter of taste. But there's no equating the democratizing of music creation to its quality.
