Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness

Bruce Cambell = Win.

Haven't ever seen these movies, heard so much about them and figured that I should watch them. I find it interesting how the series can go from something that is actually pretty scary (if you look past the mediocre camera work and make up among many things) and turn into something that looks like it was directed by Chuck Jones or something.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Cirque Du Freak:The Vampire's Assistant

Lordy,it sucked.Cheap Effects, poor acting and lazy camerawork on some scenes just killed it.The pacing of the film speeds by for the first half, and then slooooooows down later, which I found very hard to follow if I looked at it as if I had never read the books. You would have to have read the books to properly follow the story.
To be honest though,John C. Reilly was good enough in this, and so was Michael Cerveris as Mr. Tiny.
The rest... just filler to keep teenage girls ticking over till Twilight.

Runaway Train

A amazing movie. Not what I expected from it. I thought it would just be about a crazy adventure, but there was more to it. It realy showed how humans are animals, and can be as cruel as their enemies.

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Four Rooms
The end was hilarous. The rest of the movie isn't bad.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Into the Wild
Beautiful. While somewhere halfway it might give the illusion of "pictures accompanying a story", this movie is marvellous and beautiful. Based on a true story at that too, which makes it just that bit more thought-provoking. The few tiny things that bothered me throughout the film were lifted as soon as it ended, because the ending is just that awesome.

I saw a few muvvies while being grounded.

Imagine That
Cute. Just cute. I liked it.

Cloudy With A Chance Of MeatBalls in 3-D
Loved it. The book was better, but whatever.

Where The Wild Things Are in IMAX
LOVED IT. SO AMAZING.

No.

Rome, Open City

I think I almost cried. It's not completely flawless (there's an odd misogynist streak), but it's incredibly powerful. Neorealism = win.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Army of Darkness

Groovy. Glad I finally saw it. It was fun, ridiculous humor compared to the last one. I feel like I've seen this movie before, but I know I couldn't have because I definitely would have remembered it if I did. Wish this movie got a sequel though, the ending was kind of insane. (Maybe they'll make another one! mini/bigsmile

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The New World

Wonderful cinematography and visuals, but suffers from a lot of sloppy pacing, character development, and storytelling. Some parts were very good, but most of the time, it didn't seem like the film had any particular train of thought.

I have a bad habit of reading Wikipedia pages about the movies I'm watching while watching them and according to Wiki, there's supposed a new one in the works.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Butterfly Effect, Friday the 13th and Wolf Creek.

Friday the 13th was terrible, its just so bad words cannot express how dumb it is. The Butterfly effect was alright, but Wolf Creek is super duper scary.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Zombieland

I was at a friend's house, and he MADE ME watch it on the internet. I actually liked it! I was expecting it to be a movie with sick, twisted humor, but I more found it to be kinda... what's the word... Cute? Yeah, I know, cute and zombie movie just don't seem to go together. At all. But somehow it was pulled off really well and left me begging for a sequel. Lol Bill Murray.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Dawn Of The Dead (2004)

Now THIS IS a great remake.
Zack Snyder was the perfect director for this. The pacing was perfect and the action great.
Although I'm not fond of the open ending, but Snyder probably knew what he was doing.
I wonder when he is gonna make a movie that isn't a remake...

I'd agree with you in a way, but knowing Terrence Malick's films, I feel like there definitely is a direction that the film goes in, even if it's an unconventional one. Like I said to Leo earlier, don't take the visual aspects of the film as purely that and nothing more.
