Tell that to George Lucas...

There's a certain son of God's name that comes to mind here... most likely followed by an exclamation, or a deep sigh & facepalm Definitely not watching a cash cow for 15 years straight, that's for certain.

Maybe you should give it a watch sometime so you can actually see it for yourself.
I used to be really into Star Wars (and still am) however, almost every decision that's been made since George Lucas sold the franchise & company has fallen short of my (admittedly low post-prequels) expectations. The hype just wasn't there for me like it was for VII, but, I'm sure I'll break down and watch Rogue One sometime soon...
That's it, though. If I don't like it, Rogue One will turn me off from any future Star Wars movies not featuring the main cast. (And there's already something I absolutely despise from VII that'll be continuing on in VIII, so not much motivation there either)
William Osborne wrote:Rogue One's biggest flaw is that it's cast of characters aren't as interesting or as fleshed out as the characters of the original trilogy and the Force Awakens... So, overall I really enjoyed Rogue One!
I just don't want to watch a film that's nothing more than popcorn fluff, meant to sell tickets and create minor enjoyment for hardcore fans, while everyone else'll forget about the movie less than 5 minutes after leaving the theater. I just don't think Rogue One will be as memorable as say, Episode II. (Perhaps it won't be memorable for the wrong reasons... but still - there are much better movies I'd rather waste time with)

2) The final scene had some of the best ship-to-ship combat in any Star Wars film, complete with NOrmandy overtones on the ground front
3) It was grittier, and the rebellion seemed to have a lot more at stake.
That's another reason I wasn't really looking forward to it. I've not been a fan of the creative direction Disney's been taking their content in the past few years (ever since Guardians of the Galaxy, although, it definitely started before that). Besides, I think that Star Wars holds up well enough on its own to not need a dark and gritty reboot. (I'm looking at you, Bond franchise...)

Well that pet peeve can be put to rest for now. (I'm still looking at you, Bond franchise...)
Speaking of which...
Casino Royale (2006)
I wasn't a fan of the Daniel Craig recasting, and don't really care for the Bourne film franchise, so when this film came out - even a big 007 fan like myself couldn't get into it. I appreciated the black & white opening (especially since it's a flashback), and the score was top-notch. But something about the production, be it Craig's performance, the rest of the cast (aside from the character of Felix Leiter - Jeffrey Wright is probably my second favorite interpretation of the character aside from David Hedison), or the unnecessary gritty-ness just annoyed me.
Spoiler (click to read)
I'm looking at you, torture scene. My balls still cringe at that scene...
However, upon second viewing (I've been re-watching the Craig movies in order since I just got the James Bond collection on Blu Ray) I not only really enjoyed it, but it may be one of my overall favorite Bond films!
Perhaps I didn't follow the story very closely the first time around, but upon this viewing, I loved it. The action sequences were fantastic (specifically that near-opening one which is part a Looney Tunes construction site chase, and other part over-the-top James Bond goodness).
Now I'd give it a 4.5/5 stars. Really worth watching again, even if you didn't exactly enjoy it the first time.
I kinda dread watching Quantum of Solace again, though... Not only does it have the worst James Bond credits song, but I found the story overall boring with action sequences just thrown in all over the place. My hatred for QoS not being on Daniel this time, since I was really starting to warm up to him (and loved him in the role in Skyfall). After QoS and Skyfall (which I most likely won't post a review of on here) I'll check out Spectre for the first time, as I missed it when it was in theaters.
