Singin' in the Rain (1952)

It's a musical view on the transition from silent films to talking pictures. With gorgeous songs like "Make Em' Laugh" and "Beautiful Girl", along with brilliant dance numbers--including one that's 13 minutes long--Singin' in the Rain is a winner!

Man Of Steel

Amazing movie! I gotta say, this was the best movie of the summer! I loved how the story was told in a whole new way! Instead of Superman fighting Lex Luthor,(in other words human villains), he battles his own kind which results in a massive battle that nearly destroys Earth.

As many people have said though, the action was a little overwhelming. Just when you think the movie is coming to an end, another giant battle takes place. But, technically, the battles were amazing!

One thing I wish they added was the original theme for Superman. Why in the world would they leave that out?

So, yep. It was a great movie, with a great story, great actors, etc. Thank you for reading my terrible review.

Pixar has kind of had a dry spell lately. They haven't really released anything good since Up in 2009.

I quite liked Brave. Sure it's different from the other Pixar films, but I liked its direction and mystery.

And how you can just completely dis Toy Story 3 (2010) is quite absurd.

Hopefully Mickey just forgot about Toy Story 3.

Please tell me you did, Mickey.

Please.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Brave, while a pretty good film as far as family movies go, was just a little bit below the standard that Pixar has set for itself, it was to much Disney and not enough Pixar, which scares me. Haven't seen Monsters University yet, but I have high hopes.

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls

I have to say, I really enjoyed this film. I had my skeptical thoughts from the first couple trailers, but wow, I really liked it. I enjoyed the references to the Ponyville characters and throwbacks to the series. Although, there were some noticeable pacing problems like "Oh no, this is quite a proble- oh wait no nevermind it's already fixed." But overall, it was a fun and entertaining film.

Monsters University

My faith in Pixar...has been restored.

Just wow. Absolutely hilarious and great film. Better than the original? That's debatable. I personally think it's as good, if not better than the original. But the two are different as in Monsters Inc was bittersweet but Monsters University had more of a moral. My only complaint was that a few of the references seemed a tad forced, like there were likes put in JUST to reference the first movie. I loved how the story turned out to be:

Spoiler (click to read)

Oh, here's the ending!
LOL NOPE YOU GOT ANOTHER HALF HOUR LEFT." But ironically, the last half hour was the best part.

If you haven't seen this film, go see it.

Lone Ranger

I was looking forward to this movie all year, and it didn't disappoint.  While you could definatly see some similarities between Pirates of the Carribean, it was new enough to be worth while.  The acting was all pretty good too.  I think this is tied with Star Trek for my favorite movie of the year.  The only thing I didn't like was

Spoiler (click to read)

I didn't care for the added story with the kid at the carnival.  I felt like this was unnecessary and if I had to guess, was thought of by Depp.

I would give this a 4/5.

Much Ado About Nothing (Joss Whedon)

It was hilarious.  I found myself laughing aloud throughout the film, particularly during the scenes with Dogberry (Nathan Fillion's character).
It's really, really good.

It was an odd year for Disney and Pixar in general, considering that both animation studios "mixed it up" with their storytelling. The main plot of Wreck It Ralph almost felt like something that would come from Pixar, while Brave seemed a bit more like one of the Mouse's classic fairy tales.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Ever since Toy Story 3, I feel like Pixar has kinda exhausted their energy. Its only to be expected from a company that used to be consistently pulling out success after success, although I still haven't forgiven them for Cars 2...

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I'm rather annoyed every time they don't make an original film and make a sequel instead.  I liked Toy Story 3, but I just really wish they'd make something really good an fresh like what Wall-E or Up was.

I guess Monsters U isn't actually a sequel, though.  Well played, Pixar.  Well played.

Why would they leave it in? It's a completely new Superman movie to the Richard Donner movies. Having the John Williams theme would have been a very strange decision.

Prequel, sequel, really not too much of a difference IMO.

I am also one of 'those' people who thinks Pixar lost their touch after Toy Story 3 (Though as I mentioned before, I did enjoy Brave). The debacle that was Cars 2 (Which I'm almost certain was just a money grabbing effort) has left me in pure disarray with the company. It seems now that they're making sequels at will; first TS3, then Cars 2, then Monster U, and later Finding Dory. They need to settle down and get back to their roots with an original plot line (I believe Newt is to be released next year, and that would be an original story).

I haven't seen MU yet so I can't judge it, but I'm not looking forward to it. I was never a big fan of Monsters Inc. so it's not that surprising.

Up

I cry almost every time. Who can't? It's about an old man reliving his childhood dream. Great movie, has quite a bit of comedy in it.

Newt unfortunately was cancelled about a year ago. :'( I was looking forward to that...

But Pixar is releasing an original film called The Good Dinosaur next year.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Yeah, the title "The Good Dinosaur" does sound a bit weird to me, but I do have to agree with Just Kidden by saying I am intrigued by the plot. The title should not sway anyone from liking or disliking a certain film.
