The Life Aquatic
I liked the way they just didn't even try to make the underwater effects look real.
Other than that, it was a pretty good film.

Contagion

A solid paranoia thriller. The performers were all good (Jennifer Ehle and Lawrence Fishburne in particular), though some of the subplots didn't really go anywhere or didn't get enough screentime devoted to them. However, I'm glad the film underplayed the "social chaos" aspect of it and stuck more to the people trying to contain it, since we've seen that done thousands of other times in thousands of other films.

Drive

Excellent, probably the best film I've seen this year. Great performances, Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks in particular command the screen. Definitely not for the faint of heart, as it is quite brutally and shockingly violent at times. I don't say that lightly, as it's a rare thing in this day in age for movie violence to be "shocking" to me (and I mean this as a compliment rather than a criticism; it makes the film that much more effective).

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
That was !@#$ awesome. Hadn't seen it before, (I know, I know, everyone's seen T2).

Fright Night (1985)
Oh yes. Sweet Jesus, that was beautiful.

That must have been an awesome movie evening, like 2 of my favorites EVAS.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

The beginning of the end. Loved it. 4/5

Mr. Nobody

Complex narrative structure. Very confusing in the beginning, well, very confusing until the end. Great pictures and great acting. One of the best films I've seen in a while. Only drop of bitterness was the dénouement. I expected something more outside the box. All in all very !@#$ (ok, ok, I will use "mind-blowing" instead mini/tongue )and disturbing.  4,5/5

13 Assasins (Remake from 2010)

A film in the tradition of the old Toho movies like The Seven Samurai. A handful of good people versus a superiority under the command of a bad guy mixed up with some bushidō-pop to get into the right mood. About 40 minutes of sword fight pron in the end. If that's not a good reason to watch it! 4/5

The King's Speech
Everything about this movie was great, and Colin Firth definitely deserves accolades for his portrayal of the king. Brilliant, but I can't help thinking that I enjoyed The Social Network more.

Naruto Shippuden:The Movie
The animation was the only redeeming quality of this film.

Really damn good, I love seeing movies that experiment with film conventions like this. Must have been a !@#$% to film, though. Probably my favorite Hitchcock film so far, though I'm yet to see Vertigo.

Same, along with Psycho, of course.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

True, Psycho is genius. Good old Hitchcock. I still can't get my copy of North by Northwest to work. Curses...

The Crow
Awesome. Could have easily become really stupid but Brandon Lee really sold the character. He was perfect in the role. It's a shame he died so young, he had a lot of talent. R.I.P.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Living Wake

Ridiculous indie movie (on IW!) that was over-the-top pretentious on purpose. It featured a short Conan O'Brien lookalike and Jesse Eisenberg driving around in a rickshaw together and getting up to pre-death shenanigans (death as caused by a very grave and very vague disease).

Worth a few guffaws.

Pretty amazing movie by Joel & Ethan Coen. One of the bests I have ever watched. Loved it.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
It was alright. some parts were pretty meh. Yet others were ok, like the one with the "magical mops" and stuff was pretty cool.

Not Alfred Hitchcock's best film ever, but it was pretty good.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...
