Daisies

Visually fantastic farce from Czechoslovakia in 1966. Some very obvious Freudian imagery, but effective nonetheless. A lot of fun to watch; very freewheeling.

Masculin Feminin

The first Godard film I actually really liked. Excellent.

Bright Star

A very unassuming, but emotionally resonating film. The music and lighting are beautiful.

Breathless
That was a pretty good film. Very free-form.

Kick-Ass

Y'know, for a film that's been so polarizing in the media, I was surprisingly unmoved by it. I really had no positive feelings one way or another towards the film, and I think a lot of the controversy around it is being blown way out of proportion. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fantastic either. It lands somewhere in the middle, making it decent entertainment, but not much beyond that.

And I'm probably alone in this sentiment, but I thought the jetpack was a bit too outrageous for its own good, even for this.

Overall, I'm fairly ambivalent about it. I call it a victim of over-hyping.

I completely agree with MindGame about the Jet-Pack.
But the rest of it, I loved every second of it.

You should put a spoiler alert on that for everyone else who hasn't seen it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

What should I get: American Psycho, 28 Days Later or The Evil Dead?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I vote Evil dead

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Evil Dead it is then. Might as well get Evil Dead II as well. And is Army of Darkness any good?
And I'll probably buy the book of American Psycho after I'm done reading Apaches, which is a great book.

All of those are great, I have yet to see American Psycho but from the clips I've seen of Christian Bale's acting it looks really great.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I thought American Psycho wasn't as good as I'd heard, it's fairly average imo. And I've never really been a fan of Christian Bale.

Army of Darkness is the least scary one of the series ( actually not scary at all ) but it's most fun. Evil Dead II is great too mini/wink

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Definatly get all the Evil Dead movies.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I went to JB Hi Fi, and they didn't have The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II is Rater R , so I couldn't get it (I hate being under 18), and I didn't really want to get Army of Darkness without having The Evil Dead or Evil Dead II.
Plus, I didn't have enough money anyway.
So I bought 28 Days Later, which I thought didn't live up to the hype. I dunno why. The shots of deserted London were pretty impressive, though.
Afterwards, I got Killing Zoe from a library and throughly enjoyed it. Anyone who likes Tarantino should see this.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

AVATAR

Ok, so I just bought the DVD, and it refuses to play on my PC. I can understand them putting copy protection on the DVD, but what gives them to the right to prevent me watching it on the equipment I own !!!

If I bought the DVD I should be allowed to watch it on my own equipment. Arrrgggg.

I have got legally owned DVD on a legal version of Windows 7 Ultimate I blooming well should be allowed to watch it in my study if I blooming well want to. Stupid people.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

ha, don't buy AVATAR then.

The Central Region

180 minutes of a camera on a robotic arm swinging around in the middle of a mountainous area of Quebec. Kind of traumatizing, but an amazing experience nonetheless.

That's exactly James Cameron's success strategy. The real DVD will be released after everyone bought these fake ones. mini/lol

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

No, James Cameron's success strategy is to release a DVD with NO EXTRAS and then announce a Special 4 Disc Edition in November.
